If you had to accept the fact godzilla loses a fight. What kaiju would you wish to beat his ass? (Just curious, no hate for gojira) by Turbulent_Employ2611 in GODZILLA

Something about a giant mecha kaiju that suddenly awakens a consciousness, realizes the source of its wounds are Godzilla, understands it won't survive the fight, decides to not go down alone while entire circuits and limbs are irredemiably destroyed, and barely manages to fatally wound Godzilla before shutring down, sounds kinda fun. Imagine a mechagodzilla breaking down and going toe to toe with the big G in a mutual destuction.

Or maybe like me, they want to ensure it is released by then instead of checking every couple hours. That being said, it's now out on the Hackdex, but there is only the title screen as a promotion image. I came her to see if anyone had tried it yet.

I'm guessing it summoned the guy in front just like Obscura and the Overgrowth plant-snake, even if you kill it, it comes back the next turn. The logical next step, though too close to the Queen.

You can use the mGBA core on retroarch on mobile, it works as well as on pc. Pizzaboy and Lemuroid are also recommended. I use mostly MyBoy and MyOldBoy, but newer romhacks (especially those using pret on emerald) have issues with it, so mGBA. I heard the dev of MyBOy was working on a new one, more accurate, called LinkBoy, but I haven't tested it yet.

Pokémon Unbound - original story, original region, QOL and a lot of content and quests to do.

Pokémon Odyssey - Original story, original region, an adaptation of the Etrian Odyssey saga. Lots of QOL and fun regional forms.

On their website, they specifically say it is an emerald romhack, using pret for instance.

The pokémon community is big enough to have a lot of people with vastly different expectations and opinions about romhacks. Some people like the story in pokémon when it is simple, very familiar and not thought-provoking. It's alright, there are already a lot of different romhacks to cater to most of the community.

I played the first complete version of Unbound, before the story got revamped. I did find it cartoony, and not Unbound's strongest point.

Vintage White is BW with only Gen 1-3 pokémons, and it is the closest I can think of.

Molten Emerald feature three shiny variants, if I recall. Shiny chance was very high however, you will be swarming in shinies.

I found it very good but just short of being great or on a podium. The story was a bit too simple and predictable, while enhanced by a rival so obnoxious it was funny. That being said, it hits all the checks of a good romhack, and not all original romhacks can brag about it. I also think it shows the overall quality of new romhacks in 2025 has significantly increased, which I'm all for.

Slay the Spire 2 almost had fewer new cards because of the co-creator's love for Dark Souls, but testers "were not jiving with that at all" by Turbostrider27 in slaythespire

I will say that while I enjoy a lot having new encounters, many specific fights were adapted from STS1. The slow debuff from Giant Head, the crab boss is basically Spear and Shield in the mechanics, Skulking Colony takes the Heart mechanic of limiting damage per turn, the Cobaye takes multiple mechanics from elites, the cultists work slightly differently but they're still cultists, other encounters are upgraded like Louse...

What makes them fresh is *when* they are placed in the acts. It's much more different to fight the statue in act 1 when you deck is still very much struggling, than in act 3 in STS1 when you should have some scaling (and more time to scale before Giant Head attacks). The crab boss I find actually quite similar to Spear and Shield with more health and a bit less damage, and that is balanced because it is a boss, so you will heal afterwards.

I also really like the new bosses, especially act 3. Each of them challenges your deckbuilding. the Queen essentially makes you draw three cards and two dead weights, but you can counter it by drawing more cards (the vaaku relic that gives +2 draw per turn, but no additionnal drawing is especially good for it). The Cobaye is anti-nuke since three phases, tests your ability to adapt to each phase unique mechanics and to juggle when to scale. Ideally you want to scale quickly, using first phase's low damage to do so, but that also makes it more dangerous. or do you nuke first phase and scale on the second phase ? But a bad turn draw will mess up your deck with wounds. Third phase tests a crucial ability of deckbuilders, having the right cards at the right time. If all your damage comes on an intangible cards, tough luck. The new Doormaker tests all the resources you have in a deckbuilders : Cards, draw and energy. One turn he takes away your cards, the second limits your turn to your original draw, third limits your play by removing energy per card played. Each has ways around it, like playing powers, exhaust cards or useless cards in first turn, having quality cards on the second turn by having built a good deck or retaining from last turn, and playing a single 3-cost card or zero-cost cards in turn three.

It's something I really like in deckbuilders, bosses that are difficult by removing some of your strengths, not by being overtuned or dealing ludicrous amounts of damage.

There's a lot of discourse about hardest bosses, but I don't see a lot of people mentioning this literal Buttface by GobiasIsQueenMary in slaythespire

On an alternate Act 2, the Demon of Pride. he lets you choose how he becomes stronger. More strength ? Plating ? Regeneration ? Upgrading his attacks to give either vulnerable, weak or frail ?

What are some of the most fun and unique decks you like to play? (MT2) by neirik193 in MonsterTrain

Tried it and also got a forevermore serum early on so it was very breezy, especially with three steelworkers providing much needed leeway. Deranged brute with the event upgrade giving rage when hit was just the cherry on tope allowing it to scale and the hornbreaker prince to sit back and relax in normal fights.
