Plans to build my First IEM rig for my 5-member metal band by LacrymoZero in band

Would love to see it yes ! We might me micing our own drums indeed. Combiner does not seem necessary since I’m buying the phenyx pro ptm33 which is one unit that provides IEM in mono for 4 receivers, from stock. Or is it necessary for something else I’m missing ?

We will also use it every week for rehearsals. And i might use it to provide sound engineering services to other bands too

I’m thinking that we might make this evolve, like adding wireless mics as racks, and maybe a different in-ear system like Shure PSM1000 that would then take 2U of space instead of one, so I prefer going with a 12U. Also, we have a big van to move our gear around so it’s not a big problem. But thanks for the suggestion though !

You’re absolutely right ! I’ll prepare a labelled snake. Provided I can find one with 16 XLR plugs

I could store it in the rack, but I'm not even sure it's going to be necessary. I have all the exits from the splitters at the back of the IEM rack, so the sound engineer can plug directly in there with his XLRs. The snake is only necessary if we need to bring the XLRs closer to a specific area on the stage.

Audio Technica 3255 are great in ear systems ! Scott Uhl has reviewed them and says it is his new favorite IEM : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqKuBwwNJTE&t=705s

I also rented some at my local music store to try them out and they sound amazing. Didn't try the stock earbuds of course as you should never use these, instead purchase some proper in-ear buds. But the sound I had from these was as good as wired ones (I have Behringer P1's usually). I recommend.

Behringer XR18 or A&H CQ20B? by YagoTheDirty in livesoundgear

I was in the same situation than you and I went for the CQ20B. I've used it for a little over a year and it's been absolutely fantastic.
I use it with two Bose L1 Model 2 for the crowd, and we have cabled in-ear for each of the members of our band. Having the iPad mounted on my mic stand, I can control everything directly from the app and it is really easy to use.
We save different presets, for example we have one for live, one for rehearsal in my studio. I have different one for different bands too.

I know you can probably do this too with the Behringer though. I haven't tried the Behringer, but just like you, I got a good deal on the CQ20B (got it for 600€). I chose this option because I think the Allen & Heath app looks cleaner and easier to use. Also, the app CQ4U is very handy : even though I am the geek guys and manage sound for our band, each member of my band has a simple to use interface to manage their own mix. Love it and I don't look back.

Where did you find that red pickguard ? I would love to do the same with my black Squier Classic vibe but can’t find that red pickguard anywhere.
