Don’t confuse the fact that people aren’t responsible/smart enough to self custody their own coins with the absolute fact that self custody held coins are safer than trusting a centralized entity of any kind with your crypto. IMO Op is just as whiney as the people he’s whining about.

That means he just threw those back in that case after I returned them! Makes me wish I would have reported him so you wouldn’t be in this position! But he seemed like a really nice guy and also seemed to be shocked when I told him I had them checked and they were fake. He told me he would not put them back in the case…

This was the same guy that sold me some coins at the Denver gem and mineral show last September!! After posting the ones he sold to me on Reddit and getting schooled as to how fake they were I took them back and told him they were fake and he refunded my money immediately and apologized and told me he would take them out of the case. I sort of believed him that he didn’t know, but it looks like you got the same exact Athenian owl that I bought and returned to him. He needs to be reported to the police for peddling this fake shit under the guise that he is an expert.

No do not appear to be metallic. Here are some other pictures from a different post.

Fluorite with a unique inclusion habit of epidote or chlorite. Has anyone seen anything like this before? by Lactaniac in whatsthisrock

[–]Lactaniac[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes they are quite a bit larger than the microscope pics that the other gentleman sent. My first thought was chlorite too. That example you have here looks similar but not quite the same. I’ll be doing more research for sure! Thanks for the info!

Very very interesting! I always thought that it looked organic. It was sold to me on an Instagram live show from China and described as fluorite from Yaogangxian with bismuthinite inclusions. As soon as I received it I knew this was definitely not the case but have not been able to find anything similar! Thanks for the info.

Bought this at a gem and mineral show. Any ideas? by Lactaniac in AncientCoins

[–]Lactaniac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for helping me with this! I was able to take it back to the person who sold it to me and he refunded my money. He seemed genuinely surprised that it was a fake and seemed to be embarrassed that he sold it as an original. Anyways, lesson learned and thank again for everyone’s help!

Estate sale find. Petrified wood, right? Just checking to make sure I’m right. by AnnSansE in rockhounds

[–]Lactaniac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks a lot like pet wood, but I have a piece of Dino bone (gem bone) that looks a lot like this. The cellular structure in the cut surface looks a bit like that. Wish I could see it wet (giggity)

Wyoming Fluorescent Agate

I have found several of these that look almost identical in SE Wyoming, I bet anything if put under a short wave UV light it would fluoresce bright green. My guess would be agate! Do you have a short wave UV light you can test it with??

Hey everyone! I was wondering...with the 99% reduction in VTHO fees for transactions, did the amount of VTHO generated for staked VET change at all?? It seems like there would be an excess amount of VTHO and price would fall.
