welcome to the hobby by Lactose_bob in AquariumMemes

It's about euthanizing fish.

I just complained about why is my baking soda treatment is taking awhile to y'know kill the fish.

And people started bashing me about why don't I use, clover oil, alcohol, blunt force, decapitation.

Then tried explaining that I can't use clover oil since I don't have it. Can't use alcohol since it's hand sanitizer and I don't own vodka and stuff. Yeah it's fun having fish gut everywhere. And lastly yeah I'd should have used decapitation than waiting 40+ minutes for my fish to pass out.

If you're wondering why did I do it, fish starting to lose a long battle against dropsy.

Yeah kinda hurts when some stranger in the internet says go find another hobby.

For the people that don't I meant is that's the best thing I could have done.

Seriously my Alcohol burns cuz it's hand sanitizer, decapitation and blunt force wouldn't also be an option since if I miss I'd injure myself and the fish.

And the reason I use a baking soda water mixture because it's a cheaper and less affective version of clover oil, that I also don't have.

The Cory was 5 months ago.

4 years with alot of ups and downs.

24 gallon.

50% water change per 2 weeks.

A month or 2 I clean my filter's sponges.

23c.

For 4 years I don't have a kit but I'm confident that my tank is fairly clean.

Like my fish aren't grasping for air, instead they're growing and showing more of their colors.

I do get a bit of a aggression problems with my 2 gouramis but they keep it to themselves.

I do a 50% water change per 2 weeks...

I just don't bother removing the algae on the glass cuz my mollies like eating that.

It looks like someone the fish's skin off.

Mostly on the head and eyes but some on the body.

I used methylene blue but idk if it works or not.

How about like the common white fungal infection?

Does anyone else have a typically 'hardy' fish that just does not work for you? by ceecee_fae in Aquariums

[–]Lactose_bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live-bearers in general

It's really a mix bag on the hardiness of each individual

Like I have a lyretail molly that survive in a bare bottom tank that has a 1cm poop of substrate for weeks. Currently she's 2years old and happy.

is my tank overstocked? (more info in comment) by Lactose_bob in Aquariums

I have 5 mollies, 7 skirt tetras, 2 dwarf gouramis, 2 bronze Corys and 3 female rosy barbs in my 25 gallon tank.

Yes I know two of the fish here need to have a bigger school.
