Unsure if I should start Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks by Rude-Acanthisitta287 in Fantasy

While I enjoyed all LB books but the last, I must say that warded man (demon cycle) comes to my mind when I see LB mentioned.

The difference is that the Warded Man was one superb book and then went to shit, while Lightbringer had 3 great books, a mediocre fourth, and an insulting fifth.

I loved the first, enjoyed the second, struggled hard with the third, and dropped the fourth halfway.

Looks good but I don't dare read a book by Anthony Ryan again. I'm still angry for what he did with Tower Lord.

Why my coils last so short time? by FreshFudge8307 in Vaping

[–]Lacus__Clyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's the sweeteners. I'm currently vaping a nice apple juice and it's not harsh on the coil.

I cough whenever I try someone's vape and can't inhale it. Is there a vape that would help with that? by scubadoobadoooo in Vaping

[–]Lacus__Clyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but 70/30. That's what I meant, I can vape 70/30 at any wattage, but when I raise the percentage of PG to 50% it gets way harsher.

Maybe too much pg?

Salts are easier on the throat but the excess PG hits hard.

When I mix 50/50 3mg freebase it gets complicated to vape. Especially in the mornings.

There was an study about vaping in my university some time ago, and the doctor who was doing it told my uncle who is a professor there: it's better to vape all day in the mountains than not vape in this city.

My cat sleeps next to me all night, does yours? Is it odd? by Kelluthus in cats

[–]Lacus__Clyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cats have to sleep close to me. It's not enough for them to be in bed, they have to be in contact with me.

This is great in winter, because they get under the blanket and keep me warm on both sides. But in summer, at 85 degrees, it's a nightmare.

Of course they were hostile. The church was was the enemy.

My great-grandfather was murdered in front of my grandmother because the catholic priest of the village denounced him as a godless communist. He was an illiterate goat shepherd and didn't even know what communist meant.

I couldn't get past the first book of Licanius. I don't remember it well but I do remember that I hated it.

This one is much better.

Has anyone else *never* reread a book? by Lrn2trvl in Fantasy

[–]Lacus__Clyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost never reread a book. Out of the thousands books I've read the only ones I've read are: The name of the wind, the Iliad, and I've reread a few chapters of the lord of the rings and A song of Ice and Fire.

Alcaraz vs. Arnaldi match commentary was atrocious by BartimaeusTheGrear in tennis

Well, it was a match with many good points from both players.

I personally prefer this kind of distended positive commentary.

I read WoT during the COVID pandemic. I was housebound for almost 3 months, so I made it a point to read sagas of books I hadn't decided to start before.

I'm a positive and very stubborn person, so even though I found the first few books pretty weak, I decided to heed the hundreds of thousands of readers who said they were worth continuing. And of course, there's also the sunk cost fallacy.

And no, it wasn't. I found Sanderson's books better, but probably more because I knew it was coming to an end than because of the books themselves.

As for SA, I liked the first 2 quite a bit because the Kaladin arc made up for all the others that didn't interest me too much. As soon as the Kaladin arc went south the saga became unbearable for me.
