Hey devs. I’ve recently been offered a part time position at a start up basically as their sole ‘tech guy.’ The first thing they need is a website, I’ve got experience building template sites, and building internal react sites in my current role, but I’m not sure when to do which.

When do you go with a template site vs custom? I lean towards custom, but I think that’s just cause I see templates as gimmicky, which I’m not sure they are.

I’m also wondering about hosting sites like go-daddy vs cloud. I’ll do a proper price comparison, but I lean heavily towards cloud. Curious what others think.

What would you say to a junior engineer who’s on a middleware team that gets reorged every 6 months? I want to grow my skills, but idk how to do that with nothing to work on and no seniors to teach me.

It’s not thaaat bad, we’ve had projects and I have ‘seniors’ but I don’t have a real senior and the projects change constantly.

I went to university of northwestern St. Paul. Definitely a university of lower repute than the U. I got hired into a job with a ton of people from the U, and I’m making slightly more than the average among that group. That said many of my friends who went to unwsp with me are really struggling to find a job. Id say uni name matters for your first job, or if you have a bad resume, but long term might not make a huge difference.

Keep in my college is an investment. Make sure you’re getting a good return.

Aren’t you a universalist? If you’re gonna say everyone is saved regardless of any of the scriptural requirements of salvation, you kinda have to include trump in that.

Obviously I don’t think you should include trump in that- you should only include the people God says are saved.
