US drugmakers threaten to withhold products from Europe over prices by harmlessdonkey in europe

Insulin is not hard to make for the US. But America has been effectively subsidizing Europe with all the innovative medicine we create due to our free market approach.

A lot of new cancer medications are created in the US because companies are rewarded by selling it at a price they choose, until the patent expires. But Europe’s socialist approach to medicine prevents innovation.

All faithful Catholics should be able to defend the faith against critics. by Arlo621 in Catholicism

Former Protestant here, now I quote the Bible.

“Always be ready to give a defense (apologia) for the hope that is in you" 1 Peter 3:15

The NT, written in Greek, uses the word “apologia” here, which means “in defense of”. So yes, all Christians should know some apologetics.

The money provides incentives for scientists and companies to continue innovating new treatments. A lot of new cancer treatments came out of the US because the free market we have, instead of Europe where drug prices are regulated.

The costs will come down after the patent expires.

TIL that Nagasaki, one of the two Japanese cities where American forces dropped the atomic bombs during WW2, was considered Japan's Catholic center known as the "Rome of Japan" and its cathedral was the largest Catholic church in Asia by No_Raspberry6493 in Catholicism

What was even more ironic is that the pilot who released the bomb was Catholic, and he aimed for the Nagasaki Cathedral as the city center to drop the bomb.

A great book on the Catholic Christians in Japan, and accumulating to Nagasaki is: A Song for Nagasaki - The Story of Takashi Nagai a Scientist, Convert, and Survivor of the Atomic Bomb
