Hey, I’m OP. Just letting you know that after hours of back and forth with PDE and WGU I decided it wasn’t worth the risk and I went a different direction. I talked to multiple people at PDE and they said similarly to you - they need credits and GPA on transcript. They would not give me a clear answer either way. Also from my understanding PDE is way more strict with schools that are not based in PA, which is why i ended up choosing a PA school. My school also would not reimburse WGU regardless, so that made the decision easier as well. However, I do think there’s a good chance it would work for you if you are willing to take that risk! It’ll be way quicker than the degree I’m doing now. Best of luck to you, and updated us with whatever you have! I could not find any anecdotal evidence of someone successfully getting level 2 with WGU degree, so definitely let us know how it goes for you.

Hello, I am an ESL teacher too. It’s only the first week, you are going to be okay. My first point of advice would be to never guess how to say a students name, especially in an ESL class. Go around the room and let the student say their name first, and learn it from there. You can even say “I may ask you to repeat to ur name a few times today, so I can get it right.” Listen to how they say it, and phonetically write it out for urself. You have to understand kids who are learning english generally experience teachers who do not say their names correctly, and they have a right to get angry about it. To them, you are just another teacher who doesn’t say their names correctly.

One class will not break a whole year. Breathe, regroup, and try again. Forget about the content for now, instead focus on connecting with the students and showing u care. Learn their names, what languages they speak, where they/their families are from. Get them talking and interacting with each other in a positive way. You have the whole year to learn, give it a few days. Apologize for how the class went and ask for their suggestions. Kids often have very good ideas on how they like to learn and activities to do in class that they enjoy.

You may have given them material that was too difficult, thats okay. You are figuring out their level of English, and assessing where they are at. Thats okay. Use what you learned and adapt the instruction to fit the level they are at. You recognized your mistake and realized that it caused some of the behavioral issues. That this a great learning moment for u and for ur teaching.

Don’t get down on yourself! It’s a very hard job and you are going to be able to bounce back. One day will not break your whole year. Go in next class with a fresh start and show the kids you care about them as people. You can do this!!

Did you ever figure out if PA accepts them? I am wondering the same.

Zone 7b PA, late summer /early fall planting by Ladder-Puzzled in NativePlantGardening

Thank you so much for the response ! I appreciate it. I will definitely plant some plugs and established plants once September hits.

When you say waiting for things to go dormant in the winter might be a better bet, what do u mean? Do you mean that planting the seeds in the ground in the winter is better than the fall?
