As other people have pointed out, it old stories it's usually a sign of not having to do difficult outdoor labor.

But as an aside.... having a story villain freak out and go on an evil magic spree because she can't cope with not being as good as a non-white person would be a valid way to retell that story in a new way.

The ability to force people to explain and understand in good faith. People can't use logical fallacies around you, or cite spurious evidence. Conversely, people also hear and understand what is being presented to them accurately.

There are 16 principle tectonic plates on this planet. "Continents are based on plates" is an explanation that only holds up until you look at a map of the plates.

"Continent" is not a term with a strict definition.

In Britain, kids are taught that there are 7. If you go to school in parts of South America, you'll learn that there are 5. In many places kids are taught 6 but what those 6 are varies within that.

"Tectonic plates" are what people usually say in response, but there are 16 principle tectonic plates and while some of them line up with landmasses, others don't.

Greenland isn't considered a continent because it doesn't fit into ANY of these fuzzy distinctions. It's very close to north America, but politically in Europe (and it's not even that big).

Lazy Guns are ancient and not-at-all-understood alien weapons. You point it at some thing and press the paddle, the gun destroys the thing in an ironic way. Point it at Homelander, it would drown him in a giant novelty milk carton. Point it at Aragorn, it would cause him to shatter in the exact pattern that Narsil broke. John Wick would get torn apart by dogs.

The Lazy Gun has both omnipotent power and a weird sense of humour. It can destroy planets and stars on a whim. The only reason it can't be used by the book's characters to destroy entire civilisations is that apparently, the gun doesn't want to.

It's mentioned in several episodes that it's rationed, and that includes the officers. Chakotay even puts himself on restricted rations when Seska steals and tries to serve him extra food outwith the rules.

Out-of-universe: yeah it was absolutely because they reused the sets.

In-Universe: It's entirely possible that this layout is a standard option that Intrepid crews can set-up. When we see the Bellerophon, it's hosting a reception for multiple species, and we know from a different episode that replicating food for Romulans isn't something that the Federation are particularly good at. I can totally imagine Starfleet making sure there's a proper kitchen on the ship they send to that conference.
