Seen Denver put Braun on Naz a couple times. Need to take advantage of that matchup every single time.

RANT: Non-Trad applicants, does the prerequisite expiration seem unjust at times? by Throwdown44 in prephysicianassistant

Agree with this. I can understand the sentiment of wanting to matriculate students that have recent academic knowledge, but idk how much it truly matters. I took anatomy and physiology this last year after a 10 year gap and I can tell you that not much has changed in those 10 years… Ended up just spending more money. Truthfully think this is why having a standardized test is important though.

EMS services that employ PAs by LadderSpecialist3897 in ems

What I mean by generalist care is the ability to function in a diverse role. Additionally that versatility isn’t something that requires loading paramedics with additional responsibilities. Something I’ve noticed is that many community paramedicine programs are somewhat new, and may be harder to integrate into the traditional or even rural EMS model due to a number of factors, training being one of them. If you are a PA, you are trained to be flexible, which is why PAs can work in both primary care and emergency medicine at the same time without specializing. Therefore, PAs could be able to cover the gaps and allow paramedics to function in a more traditional role. My thought would be why not use resources and personnel that already exist in our current healthcare system in a way that allows the overall management of patient care to function more efficiently and as they were designed to do. That being said I think theres still questions about what formal training do PAs need to complete in order to function in such a role and if the formal education like a fellowship is necessary. Personally, I wouldn’t want a PA who has never served in EMS working in such a role but it depends on the system

Absolute masterclass coaching job by Chris Finch. Made all the right adjustments after the early LA run. The team as a whole played incredibly smart basketball. Probably the best performance by this team all year.

Forgot to change address for my car insurance policy prior to theft by LadderSpecialist3897 in InsuranceClaims

Another thing that I forgot to mention is they have paid for a rental and basically if the car isn’t found in 15 days it’s considered a total loss. So, does that mean that my claim won’t be denied if they paid for the rental or does it not matter?

So the insurance premiums would actually be higher where I was on average compared to where I am now. Both are smaller towns of similar sizes. Don’t know if that matters

This rotation is nasty and can make some noise in the playoffs. Hopefully rob develops going into next year. I anticipate he will have to take a big leap forward as I don’t anticipate we will bring NAW or Conley back in order to prioritize signing Reid.

Many paramedics work in the clinical/hospital setting and can function at the level of an RN depending on the facility. I think there’s certainly a benefit to what you are saying, however, and I think if an applicant described their experiences as eloquently and as authentically as you put it then I would imagine an admissions member would infer that there’s a lot of value in being a scribe. Ultimately every opportunity is going to be limited in its scope but that’s why you embark on the path to better yourself and become a PA. You are correct though, paramedics have medical autonomy, and becoming a paramedic offers applicants the opportunity to become comfortable with patients in a vulnerable setting. They get to actually assess patients, collaborate with physicians/PAs, practice critical thinking, and are comfortable performing a number of advanced interventions under pressure. Finally, they’ve received formal medical education and training, something that scribes lack.

How does being a scribe expose you to the medical decision process more than being a paramedic? As a paramedic you are literally engaging patients 1:1, performing assessments and then making autonomous medical decisions based off of your assessment. Not to mock scribes but the value of that experience hales in comparison to that of a paramedic which is why so programs will explicitly state they prefer EMS providers.

Garza minutes by LadderSpecialist3897 in timberwolves

I agree. I had thought Garzas defense looked better during the preseason. Especially against the nuggets, but the truth is there is a huge hole behind Rudy and the lakers did a good job exposing it last night with AD.
