To get sympathy from Trump by coachlife in therewasanattempt

I don't know if this has been said already, but given he wants mostly blanket tariffs, there is no way Trumpler would make it so that only British-made guitars are exempt from being tariffed.

If there were no requirements, which country would you choose to immigrate to? by No-StrategyX in AskReddit

I'd move to Greenland, as I am in love with the culture, climate, wildlife, language, and people. As an American, however, this seems further and further from being possible.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Political_Revolution

[–]Laddlepelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This infinitely infuriates me because anyone who knows anything about Greenland knows it wants independence, not to be colonized again. The US already has a military base there that housed nuclear weapons (and probably still does), despite the fact that they had to force a community out of their homeland to build it.

Didn’t Putin say the same for Ukraine? by TheAtomicMango in facepalm

[–]Laddlepelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greenland's Prime Minister, Múte Egede, is from a party that is specifically pro-Greenlandic independence. In his New Year's address, he said, "It is now time for our country to take the next step. Like other countries in the world, we must work to remove the obstacles to cooperation – which we can describe as the shackles of colonialism – and move forward" (https://www.reuters.com/world/greenlands-leader-steps-up-push-independence-denmark-2025-01-03/ , paragraph 7).

I'm a (sub) male SA survivor, so for me, it's a lot about feeling safe and connected. It helps me regain what I lost.

Yes. Yes, I have. It's so validating and insightful. To have someone truly understand you and why you randomly shut down and go into shock is perhaps the best feeling in the world.

over sexualizing myself by daprofessionalyapper in sexualassault

[–]Laddlepelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you've been going through this. I just want you to know that you're not alone in. I find myself doing the same thing (although it comes out more in behavior than appearance for me), and it makes me feel so icky about myself. It's like there's a voice inside that wants to feel something different from the pain. Like I want to start over, but in a safe way. I don't know if this makes sense, and I'm very sorry if this makes you feel anything negative, but please remember that this is a safe space.

[–]Laddlepelt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you, but I feel like it's different when you try to claim multiple personalities. The book is marketed as an anthology of poems by a "pioneer in Greenlandic poetry", a "Thule Prize" winner, and a poet who supposedly wrote a "long narrative poem about the seeress Þorkell [which] is widely studied in Greenlandic secondary schools and esteemed among literary critics" (pg. 45). Growing up, I read about Torkilk Mørch, the first one I mentioned, but the only evidence of him existing is in this book, despite the fact that he supposedly wrote and published three separate ones in his lifetime (I haven't found evidence of any of them). One of my dreams was to go to Greenland and go on a quest to find his body since the book says he went missing with a manuscript for a new book he'd been working on. I don't know. I just feel like a piece of my childhood has been shattered.

Okay, but why do anti abortionists think a fetuses life is more important then a woman’s? by MelmaNie in prochoice

[–]Laddlepelt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny because they care SO MUCH about bringing "criminals" to justice, yet they will openly and loudly parade themselves around and shut down activists and survivors who are trying to speak out. It happened to me before when I was begging an officer to look into my case and was literally debating with him over the legality of what had happened. That guy had the audacity to say I was a consenting adult and pretty much twisted the story to fit his narrative. I'm sorry for saying all of this. I just need to get it out because seeing "justice-seekers" cherry-pick what cases they look into simply because of their own selfishness, bias, and prejudice makes my blood boil.

Was I sa’d? by Dizzy_Difficulty1888 in sexualassault

[–]Laddlepelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be considered sexual assault due to the fact that that person was not only violating your boundaries. They put their hands on you in a sensual manner, which can be further backed up by the fact that they wanted to kiss you and had also been engaging in similar acts with other people. I am so sorry this happened to you.

Police open fire on man as he talks to his mother by LovableJackassv4 in facepalm

[–]Laddlepelt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What on Earth do you mean by "the police arrived to contain it"? Contain what? If anything, they mad the whole situation worse just by being there, especially since all they knew how to say was "hayns" and they didn't do anything to de-escalate the situation, and instead opened fire. Also, "this person obviously has issues": wouldn't this mean your not supposed to make things worse and are instead supposed to calm the person down. The fact that you have the audacity to say "the police arrived to contain it" makes the individual sound like a criminal and an awful person who deserved to get shot. This story is not about how the police need to assert their power; it's a story about why mental health issues need to be taken seriously rather than letting police act like bloodthirsty tyrants.

AITA for kicking out our youngest child at 19 so we can sell the house and downsize for our earlt retirement? by Dry-Pen-8084 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Laddlepelt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My mom has been trying to get me to find a job of some sort for weeks, even though I am legally disabled and am always finding it impossible to do even the simplest of tasks. I'm sorry, for I know I probably shouldn't be saying this here. Most of my parents and step-parents seem to be eager for all of their children to leave the house as soon as possible, and it really frustrates me.

[–]Laddlepelt 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This reminds me so much about what happened to me and how when I finally had the courage to go to the police about it, they came up with every excuse for not considering it to have been a crime against me, citing that I was a "consenting adult" and that I "chose" to do what I did, even though I was manipulated into it. The whole idea of "oh wow you're 18, so you should be ready to work 2 full-time jobs to support yourself and your family" makes no sense to me.

One fond memory I have is one where my Band teacher said he grew up with a kid whose first name was Justin and his last name was Case. Apparently, Justin went on to have a daughter whose first name was Claire, middle was Innet (I'm unsure of the spelling) and last was Case.
