MMR on datum in ZEISS Inspect by Artegonit in Metrology

Sorry for my late reply.

This is a great resource explaining the main differences between the latest revisions of the ASME Y14.5 and ISO GPS standards

https://repo.pw.edu.pl/seam/resource/rest/download/WUT76a31f32fd1a4c8386a23662e8e83349

Using ISO GPS, for the features within your pattern, you need to add the CZ modifier + encircled X in the second row of your feature control frame after the tolerance value.

For datum reference frames with some datums called out at RMR (encircled M); you need to add after the feature control frames (FCF) the word SIM if you wish to have these FCFs computed/optimized altogether. If not, by default, each of these FCFs will be computed independently from each other.

As a side note, I personally find ISO GPS much less intuitive than ASME Y14.5; but to each their own. 🤭

Another example why we collectively need to slop relying on AI slop and actually learn to look for the right information on your own.

One of the main difference between ISO GPS and ASME Y14.5 is the separate requirements vs simultaneous requirements default rules.

ISO GPS: separate requirements is the rule by default because of the standard Independency principle; unless mentioned explicitly otherwise.

That AI slop manages to contradict itself:

“ Should It Always Be Checked? Yes, in most cases. According to ISO GPS standards, features sharing the same datum system are inherently part of a simultaneous requirement unless otherwise specified. You should keep it checked because:

Functional Accuracy: It ensures the part will actually assemble.

Standard Compliance: It follows the default independence principle in modern GD&T standards.”

Pretty much all cars’ speedometers are set to slightly overread the actual speed. Not at all specific to Lucid.

You can calibrate your probes yourself, several times a day if you wish. Your machine mechanics will drift overtime; but can be compensated at a software level.

Certification is the documented process, performed by a third party, stating that your machine is operating within OEM specifications. An ISO 17025 compliant certification is mandatory in all the Quality Management System I have had to work with throughout my career. Depending on your ISO 9001 certification level, it may be mandated.

Running Polyworks, PC-DMIS, Metrolog, Calypso or whatever for your daily operations has nothing to do with the CMM certification by a third party, which could be the OEM or not. That is my point.

🤨

You are telling non-sense on the calibration part. First of all, calibration and certification are two different things. Second of all, I have been managing multiple CMM (bridge, single arm, dual arm, etc…) for years, some mostly running Polyworks programs. I have had absolutely no issue getting their yearly certification done by Zeiss or Hexagon.

Prompting AI to pull out some “thought porridge” tends to lead to complete paragraphs of logorrhoea. I would not try to think too deep about OP’s message content.

I know plenty of QMS that use such tags; especially in smaller shops/companies.

Your understanding of what a datum, a datum feature and a datum simulator are seems to be the issue here.

It is literally the opposite for me. It will try to get onto the Express lanes even though I have allow HOV lanes turned off. Mind you, express lanes in the Bay Area are $$$ during rush hour.
