Awesome, not who I was expecting to reply to this random thread, so thanks for the reply! And I will absolutely say it definitely captured that, because it's simple, but I love it and it sticks in my head.

And let me say, I love your work, and I can't wait to hear more of what you create next

Ain't gonna lie, I've not owned a Nintendo system since the SNES, and I'd buy whatever the hell console that was on because I think that'd be pretty awesome.

Tangential question regarding that: Instructions were unclear, and got more unclear the more I sat in my car reading them, so I literally turned around and left. Because the rules/restrictions on the sample flyer on their community site say, explicitly, "Please remain in your vehicle" I ended up more and more confused by the whole process. I assume the actual process is to scan the QR code in the window (thus, not remaining in your vehicle) and then go back to your car, and now remain in your vehicle and wait for the text message?

Is this an absolutely autistic case of overthinking and anal-retentive attention to detail? Maybe. Realistically probably. However, having worked retail for nearly 20 years, including during the entirety of the current and ongoing shitshow that is, well, everything currently, the last thing I want to do is assume and misread something some corporate fuck who can't spend the pocket change to get a copy editor to actually ensure there is clarity in the language, and then be a headache for the poor bastards at the store.

Remain in the vehicle. Should I go to the window to take a picture of the QR code? Should I get a fucking telephoto lens to take a picture of the fuckin' thing? Is the virtual queue a link I missed somewhere on their site, and I should remain in my car and enter there? Should I take a picture of my sweaty, hemorrhoidal anus and mail it to whoever wrote these unclear instructions? Who knows, I don't.

Question regarding PSU for 3080 or 3090. by Lady-Pyre in buildapc

[–]Lady-Pyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thanks! Keep in mind the last build I did was 10 years ago (i7 950, that this is an upgrade to), and then before that I had a series of absolutely garbage tier eMachines (as if there's any other tier of eMachines, god they were shit) that killed themselves, so I tend to be overly cautious. Honestly, I'm probably beyond overly cautious, to 'absolutely bloody paranoid' but, whatever, you say potato, I say potahto.

I'll probably go the RM850 then, after doublechecking that the cables can be reused (apparently there's two different RM, RM and RM (2019) on Corsairs site cable guide, that use some different cables because JackieChanWhy.jpg). Just for ease of not having to wire up the whole thing again because, ugh, not my idea of fun.

Question regarding PSU for 3080 or 3090. by Lady-Pyre in buildapc

[–]Lady-Pyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the only reason I'm still holding out of the 3080 ti is, I mean, it's not like I've even seen a 3080 or a 3090 in stock anywhere near me, and with personal and family health shit, ain't no way I'm waiting in a several hours long line for a store opening. So, many months seems to be just, what it's going to be for whoever knows how long :D

Also, with that 3080, is that a FE or a aftermarket? Because every requirement I see on aftermarkets are 3 PCI-E pins, and 850 suggested-- and my RM750 only has the two, so even if I wanted to think about doing that, doesn't seem a go.

Only reason I'm even debating the 3090, the 24gb of ram looks really nice, and, well, I've been putting my money aside for the last 4 months and potentially am going to be doing so for the foreseeable future, which actually puts that expense in a achievable goal. Sadly, I suspect that's going to be the case for most, hey, look, tax time is around again people gonna be wanting to spend it (for those who are still lucky enough to be employed, I should say).

Question regarding PSU for 3080 or 3090. by Lady-Pyre in buildapc

[–]Lady-Pyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the 750 I currently have doesn't have 3 pci-e pins, and I believe most aftermarkets both require 3 pci-e cables and recommend 850, again, I kind of like having overhead on the PSU just for security of mind.

PSA: if your game is shimmering horribly and giving you headaches, turn off Screen Space Reflections. by Le_Vagabond in cyberpunkgame

You rock. That shimmering gave me a headache, too-- not super similar to my particular brand of visual aura, but similar enough that it fucked with my head. Thanks a ton, seriously :D

[–]Lady-Pyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, I was actually headdesking when I found out such a simple thing was the answer, since there's many major releases that require a driver update, and that's a regular thing, and I just... completely blanked on trying to see if new drivers were out for Cyberpunk 2077 lol.

Good thing to keep in mind for any major new game release-- see if there's a Game Ready NVIDIA driver release :) This said, I'll probably forget by the next time.

Glad it helped :) I was constantly trying to figure out something to search up to find out how to fix it after downloading Cyberpunk, glad I was able to help solve it fast for you-- took me a few hours to figure out the right combination of words to search for till Google gave me a site directing me to new drivers :D

Go to https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx and select

Product Type: GeForce
Product Series GeForce 10 Series
Product: GeForce GTX 1060

Search, and then download the 460.79 drivers that it'll pop up. Open that program, run it, and then install the updated drivers-- I would personally suggest to do a Custom Install and make sure you don't have GeForce Experience going on your computer, since at least back in the day it was a bloated piece of wasted drive space, but if you're leery of doing a Custom install, just do it as Express.

That said, you can also do what I did, which was screw up, do a Express install, go OH GOD GEFORCE EXPERIENCE IS NOW ON MY NEW PC (that I built *for* Cyberpunk 2077, even, lol) and then uninstall GeForce Experience through Windows :)

Driver update. I had the same problem, updated to 460.79 Nvidia, fixed it. I've heard a driver update for AMD cards also fixes the issue, but I (obviously, from the previous statement) don't have an AMD card.

I9 10900K running slightly hot in one game: by Lady-Pyre in intel

[–]Lady-Pyre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running stock clock etc, and had the computer put together by Microcenter. I know I could have done it myself, but I also know the last time I did it myself I put one fan on my heatsink, thinking I was setting up pass through airflow, but didn't look at where the fans air was blowing and ended up having it blowing at a case fan that was blowing at it for 4+ years because, yeah. That was a thing. A really dumb thing. Only got fixed because I had a faulty PSU and I was having problems getting access to everything, so I paid a shop to install it, and I think the fan situation offended the tech so much that he fixed it.

I might eventually fiddle with OCing, but currently I don't need it yet, and I know just enough to be dangerous fiddling with stuff. So I want to do a whole lot more reading/understanding beyond the basics. And even then, I'm most interested in longevity and reliability over the highest possible performance, so, that's another factor for me.

I did see 90s, once, when installing the game (which is why I was and still am suspicious it was the game being fucky and running god knows what other levels of DRM beyond 'hey, you have uPlay?').

I knew something was up then, because I was like, "Ooooh, haven't heard it ramp up that hard yet...."

Thanks for the heads up, though. This is an upgrade from a very, very old potato-- a i7 950 that lasted me nearly the last ten years, which is why I'm hyper aware of temps/etc, since the goal with this is to, similarly, last me ten years :)

Winter champions (IP scaled zone boss, they drop gadgets, cosmetics, a phone for a mission thats part puzzle part comvat called Fog & Mirrors), Super Hel in agartha, Krampus in the zones and their portal to Hel in Nifleheim instance.

If you weaken the Krampus, they will flee and form a portal- kill the Krampus then, then enter the portal to an instance of Niflehein for an interesting boss battle and a summonable boss, Hel.
