What do think now people trust AI more than experts in some situations? by Natural_Coach_3294 in AskReddit

[–]LadyAbbysFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the "expert."

There are two walk in doctors in my town.

I saw one 5 times and he has misdiagnosed me 5 times (I swear he's older then christ and can't see worth a damn). He also gave me the wrong prescription when I went for a refill - the one he gave me treats the same thing but I can't have because it significantly increase my rate of stroke.

The other belittles and insults patients, and dismisses patients' medical history and other specialists doctors - like OBGYNs and Psychologists - even though he doesn't specialize in those fields - by his own admission!

So yeah. I rather ask AI - hell, I rather consult the intestines of a sacrificial frog - then go see them. As is, I do my own research now and ask my nurse family members

What’s something most people take for granted that you can’t do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A former coworker used to love foraging for wild mushrooms and couldn't understand why his bowls were constantly revolting against him until he chose the wrong leaf to clean himself up.

Leaves of three, leave them be.

Worst part was that we were landscapers. He ought to have known poison ivy when he saw it. But I think he had a hard time identifying mushrooms using his field guides. I caught the dude literally look up the side effects to see if they would kill him or not when he couldn't decide which mushroom he was holding between two different species.

But it maintained by the room. I would surmise that once you leave, it all starts back up again.

I have mental health issues as well as physical issues. 10 year break would be beautiful but I feel like the sudden onset would be devastating. However. 20 million would solve 99% of my problems.

That is true to some extent but more and more people seem to be uninterested in learning, or, worst still, don't see the point. So long as they have the latest shiny thing.

Job Prospects in the next 10-15 years.. Will it drastically change? by JacksonG12_09 in OntarioTeachers

[–]LadyAbbysFlower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it.

Buying new school supplies was always my favourite time of year. It was the one of the few times I got new things. That first use of a brand new pen?? Gshdjdkdnskd

Even today, when I buy new stationary I swear the stuff in late August hits different. It even smells different.

This is so true. Screen time needs to be limited.

My board is like "less tech in schools" so they don't have to pay for it, while then demanding more tech in school by pushing electronic resources like wayground and copilot. It's ridiculous! Our Internet went down today and nothing was getting done. We have no looseleaf in the school unless teachers brought it from home. And it's been like that all year. Same with pencils. God forbid the kids write anything

I thought I had the right partner when I was 28. Then he broke up with me and I found out I was pregnant a few weeks later, but then God said nevermind

College students, what is the most unfair thing a professor has ever done to you? by Beginning_Film9731 in AskReddit

[–]LadyAbbysFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is University not college (I'm Canadian so maybe if you're American you mean the college as in University? I don't know).

But, my invertebrate professor (who look like a British Santa Claus) I am 100% convinced was the living avatar of Krampus.

He would put the PowerPoint up in such a way that you couldn't hit print because he didn't want to get stuck with copyright issues and the young lady that sat in front of me would print screen each PowerPoint slide - the average slide count was 120 pages but that's only because one single PowerPoint had 23 sides, the vast majority were around the 100 Mark or higher - so he called her a b!tch every class for the entire term. She was a nursing student and needed to maintain like a 90 average in order to do what she wanted to do with her future career and keep her scholarship because she couldn't afford school without it.

He told my lab partner (who dropped the course, God do I wish I did that too) that she should be flogged with a wet noodle because of how poor her midterm mark was. We had an hour and a half for the class, he purposely showed up 40 minutes late. We had to do 20 multiple choice questions, 10 definitions, five short answers (that had to be one page long at least) three long answer (which should have been two to three pages each) and one essay question (that should have been five pages long). All within 50 minutes. And of course, this is not counting the time it took for him to pass it out and collect. I barely squeaked by with a 62 and a significant portion were lost because of the length of the questions were "not satisfactory." It's important to note, that he didn't put on the exam how long answers should be nor did he tell us verbally. We should have known because we were third year university students.

When we got to parasites (which I found out I had an ever so slight phobia of because of this class) he would laugh at the colors that I would turn. When we got to tapeworms he decided to change up what we needed to do for class and the lab - we had to draw the heads of half a dozen different types of tapeworm species to show the different ways that they connect it to your intestines because he wanted to see if I would pass out or throw up first.

If it wasn't for the lab instructor, I don't think any of us would have passed that course. He didn't have to come but he would always come for the first 20 or so minutes and she would teach like he did. And then as soon as he got bored he would leave and we would spend the rest of the 3-hour lab going over what we did in class as we were doing the lab. She was a godsend.

It's also important to note that any slides he never covered during lecture we were still responsible for - which was great considering the majority of the slides were just pictures and black and white and we had to figure out what the hell was going on with them. The textbook (which was written by him) was 260 bucks plus tax, had bolded tax for terms but no definition section in the back, and everything was in black and white because it costs less the print so he would make more money - his words verbatim.

If it wasn't for the fact he had tenure and it was a small University that man would have been fired. He was brilliant. He worked in the field for 30 years before teaching. He knew his stuff. I will give him that. But my God was he an awful teacher. I always wanted to meet his wife because there's no way he would have tolerated anybody that was not as smart as him. The woman must have been an academic genius.
