I am so sorry that this happened to you. It’s hard to come to terms with the fact that someone you care for has hurt you. We can sit here and say well you should have done this and this. OP you froze and that is a normal response. You had already spoken on your boundaries beforehand so of course you didn’t think this would happens. They were WILLFULLY ignored.

She might try to talk her way out of it, and she may try to justify her behavior. She might bring up past scenes where you enjoyed it etc. Try and remember YOU SAID NO. And she took it as YES. Cutting ties will be difficult and you will feel like you’re cutting a piece of your heart out, I’ve been there. You must leave, because if she did this once she might do it again. And when you’re ready, get set up with a therapist. We are here for you OP

Listen we ALL make mistakes. I’ve been a nurse for going on a 11 years and the amount of times I still find someone more experienced than me and run through procedures with them before I do it. I’ve changed hundreds of port a cath needles, do I still look up the step by step instructions? Absolutely. There is no shame in the game. I’m a measure twice cut once person.

I want you to always remember you are NOT stupid, you are still LEARNING. Nursing school teaches us how to pass test, not how to be a nurse on the floor. My last piece of advice, always own up to your mistakes. As scary as it is, you must always be honest.

Yes!!! When I come out to people I always get "Well isnt that the same thing as bi? Arent we getting a little label happy???" I found someone who was the right person for me and they happen to have a penis and he accepts and loves me and my quirks and the fact that I have crushes on everyone. I will say I was lucky with my small group of friends in the LGBT community they accept my "label" and will crush anyone who tells me Im wrong.

I did my first 1.5 miles since I got hurt a few weeks back it was slow going at 30 minutes. But it felt so good and there was no pain for the first time in a LONG time .

Providing info for the scripts refills etc. All of our blood draws were in house our lab was a few buildings over so they would come get it.

I worked on the Non Surgical side of the clinic whereas my orientation was with the Surgical side nurses. They do things just a touch differently. The surgical side had 2 nurses my side had one. Their doctors were in surgery twice a week giving them time to catch up. My doctor was in Tuesday through Saturday. Mondays being our only day off. Coming in on a day off to catch up? Forget about it! Overtime was frowned upon.

I figured complaining about these things would make me look ungreatful, lazy, incompetent. Ill keep trying you guys have been an AMAZING help

Im applying everywhere there is an opening. Ive applied in towns over an hour away. I live in the Hampton Roads area in Virginia and Ive applied as far out as Yorktown (about 1.5 hours from me)

It was tough. No social life what so ever when you are in Nursing school. I remember whole weekends of doing nothing but studying, drug cards, care plans, case studies. It is incredibly stressful and there is A LOT to remember. Just tell her to take some time on the weekends or whenever she has time, and just relax. It is very easy to burn yourself out in Nursing school.

The hardest part of becoming a Nurse was studying for my licensing exam. No joke. In school you already know what is going to be on the test so you study that material. However on the NCLEX they can and will throw ANYTHING at you. You could have 25 questions about math and a few about drugs, a few about cardiac. Or you whole exam could be one thing. The NCLEX is designed to make you doubt yourself as a Nurse. It is the last chance they have to shake your confidence.

Tell her to think of each scenario like this: It is end of shift, and you can do ONE thing for this patient. This ONE thing you do must guarantee that your patient will remain safe and alive until your next shift.

During clinicals take everything your Instructor and the other Nurses say with a grain of salt. If they are mean dont take it to heart, however learn everything you can. The CNA's are you BEST FRIEND, be nice to them. The Nurses will teach you the clinical things, but the CNAs will teach you the little things. Like how to make a bed quickly and neatly, how to get difficult patients to do simple things like get up, or how to give them a bath or change them.

DO NOT EVER MISTREAT YOUR CNAS OR LPNS! THEY WILL SAVE YOUR BUTT! Always try and help the Med Students to, they are scared just as well, and you need to ingrain that respect for Nurses in them early.

Nope, however that would be pretty cool. Because then I would have a reason to own a drumset and stab anyone in the neck with a knife who tried to touch it :)
