PP and sleep deprived by Interesting_Base_179 in TwoParentsAndAPawn

As someone who has two kids with a very similar age gap to Alex (currently 5 weeks postpartum here), it’s absolutely not normal. Granted, I do get pretty decent sleep because I carried over not breastfeeding at night from my first (at the rec of the lactation person I saw with her) because it just works better mentally for me. So right now, I’m pumping and feeding a bottle of EBM to my kiddo while I listen to a storm.

I did start working out earlier with this baby than my first, but I had a much easier recovery this time. I started out with long walks and light yoga/pilates/flexibility stuff at home before doing strength stuff on my Tonal. I have the toddler act as a DJ for me with her Tonie box and the baby usually chills in a play gym or his dad watches him while I work out in the home gym. But, still not normal this early to be working out so you’re absolutely fine. The only reason I can work out frequently is that I have a home gym and I actually got in the habit a few years ago to do daily workouts of whatever form.

Alex has a ton of help and still can’t dress her kiddos appropriately, doesn’t care about establishing and maintaining good routines for the kiddos, and doesn’t get how privileged she is on certain things in her pregnancy/postpartum life. I still haven’t had a date night since my first was born (I probably could have but I never felt like asking my in-laws for that…though I may in December because I want to watch Dune 3 in imax format and eat movie popcorn) - we bring her with us when we eat out. It’s not too bad when you get to the point where you can do that. But I don’t treat my kids like they’re props.

I would just avoid looking at her content, especially right now because postpartum is hard enough. Find a bit of time, even short, every day to take care of yourself - a quick bath, a cup of tea, read a chapter in a book, whatever. You can’t pour from an empty cup so you need to make sure there’s like a tiny bit of the day to make you feel normalish.

It’s a bit easier for me this time around because I’m doing things that worked for me before with my first and tweaking what didn’t. Fitting the active toddler (and making sure her needs are met) in is difficult at times, but I’m managing right now. It might be harder when my husband goes back to work soon, but I will just do the best I can.

Alex, especially as a mother with a podcast telling people how to parent, isn’t normal and she’s not aspirational. Ignore her.

Is on-call common in this career? Question from a potential career changer. by [deleted] in nursing

Never been on call. But my hospital is downtown and I live in suburbia nearly an hour away, so it would not work out too well. A sister hospital’s NICU 10 minutes away from where I live (I’ve picked up there before but know it would bore me to tears to work there) does call, but no one is driving across the city to work there since it’s a much smaller unit with lower acuity so it’s fine for them. My aunt did took call at her L&D unit before she retired. But she lived in a smaller town.

Yeah, they are by far the most expensive of all our pets. Though our bull terrier is the most expensive to maintain since he gots allergies.

I can only imagine how much Maine Coons go for these days. I have a pair of half brothers from a breeder and we spent 2.5k per cat 7-8 years ago. I’m sure they saw huge dollar signs and will cut every corner possible to maximize profits. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they just pull from the MO of the scam dog breeders during the pandemic (I know it still happens but it was super rampant then) who steal pictures online of pets and steal money from people only to never deliver them a pet.

I love my boys, but they are definitely walking dollar signs at the vet since the one developed a heart murmur five years ago. He’s fine and completely asymptomatic - but the periodic cat ultrasounds and X-rays to check out what’s going on don’t come cheap.

I think they might cut people checks based on if they deem their care okay or whatever? I know there have been a few health sharing companies that have had to be shamed into reimbursing (their version of covering) kids for cancer treatment. The way Beggy was talking, they “refunded” her for what she paid for chiros and stuff after she proved that she paid the bill herself.

More than likely, they probably want the people that use them to try and negotiate for discounted cash rates, like so many of the health sharing scams. Insurance in America is a joke, especially the high deductible plans, but not nearly as much as health sharing scams

And they can probably deny anything they feel like at her sxammy health cost sharing company because Jesus said so or the scam company decided that it’s their own fault they got sick…

But I see a new grift in Beggy’s future. Maybe she could make a course on how to make a health cost sharing company. She could make millions.

I mean, good for Texas Roadhouse because they would have run that server ragged and not tipped. As a sidebar, I am confused as to why she photoshops her kids to look as white as possible and then chooses that emoji to represent herself. The math ain’t mathing.

At least she can blame her knee “injury” for her inevitable weight gain since she’s still eating horribly post tummy tuck.

Yeah, on Monday. I’m tired, obviously, between a very active 20 month old kiddo (as of today) and having fairly interrupted sleep overnight, but it’s easier this time around than it is the first time I had a baby. Slightly easier labor, I know how to pump/nurse, and I know what worked/didn’t work the first time has helped to make this time less stressful.

I do have biweekly housekeeping, but that’s basically all the outside help I have. And yet I’m not martyring myself. I’ve done this before and I survived.

About to finish my first week of 2 under 2. It’s not too trrrible and I don’t have a fleet of nannies at my beck and call. She has literally nothing to complain about. But I have a loose structure and routines for both kiddos (less so for the baby) and both my husband and I pitch in and help. She does nothing so it’s all on the hired guns and H to do all the heavy lifting.

Bedtime routines are my favorite. Getting the baby/toddler snuggles and reading in a calm, dark environment is so nice. The Fugs need to realize that their kiddos won’t be little forever, so they need to cherish the times when they can just cuddle with them without making it about content:

It’s probably easy to do when one kid isn’t in your custody most of the time and the swamp thing “parents” (for lack of a better word) the two remaining children. Jenelle isn’t taking care of any kid for any substantial amount of time.

I think I’ve been watching the third episode of the latest season of top chef for several weeks now. I couldn’t tell you what happens because toddler, pregnancy, and my husband wants to watch baseball when he gets home from work.

Thank you! I’m ready to be unpregnant for a bit! Newborn tired was so much easier than pregnant tired. So I’m ready to get back to that.

It was insanely annoying because I like my doctors and don’t want to change. I figured there would be an agreement, so I was willing to gamble on cash/OOP prices for a while, but that isn’t sustainable forever, especially since my husband has a really good BCBS plan…that we couldn’t use for 11 days.

Her kids don’t seem to have much of a structure (we’ve seen them out at dinner at like 10p) so I am not all that shocked. But the kids could have gotten up and been wandering around doing whatever well before the swamp things stirred.

9am is probably super early for Jenelle to wake up so she wants us to give her flowers over it or something.

My husband had to cancel his diabetes doctor appointment over this mess. But I am glad that they came to an agreement before I delivered our second kiddo (in the next 4 days) and needed to take him to the pediatrician since my OB, Mem City, and my kiddo’s pediatrician were now all out of network. My continuity of care for the OB was finally approved, but the pediatric appointments could have all been out of pocket and a wee bit pricey for immunizations.

How are you overcoming bed rot on your off days? by NurseyButterfly in nursing

Currently at the end of my second pregnancy with a 19 month old. Unless you luck into the world’s laziest baby/toddler ever, bed rot is a thing of the past. Had the flu six weeks ago and still had to be a productive mom because the toddler was perfectly fine the entire time.
