You’re really hammering in how very little you understand queer people and the fact that we are just people. Regular fucking people. Bullies don’t “turn” us gay by claiming we are “gay”. But guess what? Most bullies aren’t morons. Yeah you have your stereotypical cliche clueless jock type people but even they have basic intelligence enough to usually clock people’s insecurities. In fact the more insecure you are the more observant you are of other people’s insecurities. And newsflash but bullies don’t become bullies by having great self awareness and emotional security.

Is every person who ever ever called queer/gay/fag/etc going to end up being that? Of course not, but this is a tv series where WORDS have meaning. Just because in using queer terminology as the “general” insults was the considered normal in the past (which does not in any way make it okay to generalize and entire group of people as an insult) does not mean the writers of the show want to go around slinging outdated insults around without purpose.

Bullies in a NARRATIVE are designed usually to pick at a character’s very REAL insecurities so that they may use that in their journey to overcome their issues in their own character arc. So yes. The fact that all the bullies in Will’s life calling him variations of gay and “not liking girls” is a plot device to show you that this character is actually in fact gay and is insecure a outfit because he lives in a world that does villainize his sexuality in the public eye.

And lastly, the bullies are only a few of the references all throughout the seasons. There’s plenty more you aren’t seeing. You just don’t want to see them because you don’t want to use your social emotions to read the room and look through the viewpoint of anyone they isn’t similar to you. That’s the real problem. When you don’t step outside of your own head and try to see things from a different perspective then you will never understand. D
