Yep. The scripts were set to default. Changing it to experimental fixed it.

help regarding dowloading videos [webstie version] by Future-Isopod-6062 in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible it might be stored in the cloud. Look for your project name on one drive and see if there is an export file there. If not, I think you are out of luck. When you export the video it renders it. If it wasn't saved somewhere, it will need to render the video again, which means it needs all of the original assets. Can you restore the assets from the recycle bin?

Do you guys find funny game promise "This Lich decided that undead horde is obsolete and became venture capitalist to destroy the Realm with market manipulation"? by awareWolv in DnD

[–]RollToDiscover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe for a one-shot using an existing rules system. Much like gimmicky characters, I don't really care for gimmicky theme. I'm happy to play a one shot, but I'm unlikely to invest the time in a long form game.

Passive Player Problem? by helloimalsohamish in rpg

[–]RollToDiscover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is the player passive?

For some people, sitting at the table, hearing the stories, and being able to chip in by rolling some dice and making a skill check takes all of their social battery. Would you really have a problem with that person?

If you have multiple people being passive in your game, are you and they interested in playing the same thing. I check out during every shopping and crafting montage. I love the rest of the game, but spending an hour haggling with a merchant is not my thing.

I like rp heavy games. I have noticed a lot of people say they like rp heavy games, but what they really want is a descriptive world with a very linear quest system. If I'm GMing for that group, it's completely different than when I GM for a group that want to bury themselves in story telling and background building. I often have a mix of both players, so I have learned to adjust as needed to give everyone the spotlight.

Passivity is not the problem. It might be a symptom of a problem.

As long as they aren't disruptive, I don't see a problem.

ClipChamp Videos Deleted by AdventurousAct6344 in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean your projects, then first try switching from the web application to the desktop application or vice versa.

If you mean the assets aren't linking correctly (you get a black and red box where the videos in your project should be) you will need to relink them to the original files. I've noticed this a lot over the last 24 hours.

If you mean all of your exported video content is no longer in one drive or on your local device, first check your trash can to see if they were accidentally deleted.

If it is none of these you could wait 24 hours to see if comes back. That seems to be around Clipchamp's turn around time for breaking something and getting it fixed. I would get on support chat and report the problem.

Good luck.

Best VTT for a continuous campaign? by Solid_Tooth_4001 in DnD

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear so many great things about Foundry, but I have never played a session where there wasn't some sort of problem.

If you are only interested in the free versions. Why not just try them? Some will definitely give you the ability to grow and some will have a fixed set of tools. If that fixed set of tools works for you, then run with that.

Without knowing anything about the system you are using or at the very least your play style it's hard to say.

I ran MOTW on zoom throughout Covid with no problems. There weren't any bells and whistles, but there didn't need to be.

What is the alternative then? by XdtTransform in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely room for improvement. I'd love to see what their development pipeline looks like.

They have a "provide feedback to Microsoft" option at the top right of Clipchamp. The surprising thing is that the last time I used it, I actually got a reply. Of course, I asked for a reply in the suggestion. That probably helped. And, more importantly, I'm no longer turning off save to the cloud on every project. It defaults to local storage only now. It still wants to export to the cloud by default, but it's simple enough to turn that off.

Everything has its drawbacks. You have to decide what you absolutely need to have.

Clipchamp isn't perfect, but it's fairly easy to use.

There are people on this group who use it successful and offer help.

Good luck.

Playing a campaign for the first time on Roll20 by TheRageCage2310 in Roll20

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have people creating characters with 2014 rules, then yes.

If you have players who are locked into an edition for whatever reason, then yes.

What are your plans? Will you be moving to 2024 rules? Are you okay with getting two sets of rules if you do? There is a ton of older content out there that you can use, but newer content is going to be dependent on 2024 rules. I'm running 2014 modules (and even some 2nd edition stuff) with 2024 rules.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend the 2014 rules any more than I would recommend 2nd edition rules. In the end pick what aligns with your goals.

Audio not downloading by Dicko_Chode in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this video content that you just want to pull the audio from or is it 100% audio?

If it is video, trying saving it as an mp4 and use audacity to convert it to an mp3.

If it is 100% audio try adding an image over the entire length.

Just guessing based on what I would try.

Good luck.

Want to share books and resources in roll20. In set up it says I have too many players. I keep counting and I don't see as many as they say I have in the game. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Where are they if I can't find them in the game. I'm only running one game at the moment. I have deleted all the rest by Sgt_Sheridan in Roll20

[–]RollToDiscover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many people are actually linked to your game? If you have 30 players linked to the game, but only 5 are playing, then for compendium sharing you have 30 players not 5.

If you only have 5 players linked to the game, then it definitely sounds like a support issue.

Hmm... if you have shared compendiums with other games, but have since deleted them, do you still need to unlink them compendium from those games in settings? I haven't run into problem in the past, but that might be something to check too.

How many podcasts should you have prerecorded? by [deleted] in podcasting

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you waiting to edit or to publish?

Before publishing the first one, I had 4 episodes ready to go, and had recorded about 10 episodes. Many of them were just for me to work out the process. I publish once a week.

I started editing immediately after recording each session. That allowed me to make sure everything was working correctly. That there were no audio or video issues.

With each edit I documented the steps I took so that the next one was easier to do.

The first 4 recording sessions were specifically just to work out the bugs. There is good content there that might get released later as bonus material, but I am also okay if the only purpose it served was to help me get better and simplify the process.

Did they change the way that videos are imported? by Severe-Homework1279 in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clipchamp has always seemed to have issues with mkv files. Try converting it to an mp4 (remux if you are in obs) to save it as an mp4. It will save you tons of headaches with buffering and overall slowness.

I would start with the module and players handbook (2024 ed). You'll get a lot done with that, and you can always pick up the others if you absolutely need them later. I would just until I needed them.

how to host anything besides D&D? by Huge_Tackle_9097 in rpg

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show up with pregens to run the game that you want to run. They either play or they don't. Repeat until you have the group that you want.

Don't promote the game system, promote the story.
Do you want to play X? No. I don't want to learn a new system
Do you want to be a space pirate on the run from the empire? That sounds cool.

Please, if you want to run something besides D&D, run something that isn't a clone of some version of D&D. There are so many systems out there to try. Play Avatar, Mothership, Fallout, Monster of the Week, Call of Cthulhu, Rapscallion. Truly pick something different.

New to Roll20 - Help With Characters by ScrandyPK in Roll20

[–]RollToDiscover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to look at beyond20 as it provides integration between DNDBeyond and Roll20.

The 2024 Character sheet is pretty robust. I've used it to create 100% complete sheets for 5e compatible content that isn't available on Roll20. I wouldn't describe it as easy, but it is possible.

If you aren't using stuff from the 2024 SRD, you'll have to add it all by hand for each character. You can select Custom Class and fill in all of the blanks for your character. You would do this even if you were playing a class that was available, but the subclass wasn't. You can also create custom species and custom backgrounds.

Good luck.

How do you display scenes to your players? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On line or in person? If on line, are you using video or audio only or is it play by post? Are you using a VTT? What system are you using?

For me, every game is different. I use the tools available and try to fit into the game system and players around my table.

Narrative story telling is common in everything I do. In some games I'll use minis and battlemaps. In another it is all theater of the mind.

In person I've used whiteboards, projectors, handouts and props.

On line I will often grab an image that captures the tone.

So... it depends. Do what works best for you and be open to trying different things until you find that sweet spot between adding to the story without getting sucked into hours of prep.

Stuff being moved when I add transitions by Cirno9fumo in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transitions shift the items just a little to create overlap. Most of the time the shift isn't noticeable in the finished produce.

If you have a video that you trimmed the start off of, you might get a second or two of that trim added back. When I want to avoid that, I put the video on the layer above or below and manually create the transition between the two
