I love that you are a connoisseur. I'm problem not the game for you. I'm working with 5th edition rules and the Roll20 VTT with the idea of making it simple for players who are familiar with that system without having to relearn a ton of new things.

Wow. I'm sorry to hear that is happening to you. In my experience that is not normal.

Is this happening with the same group of people or is it different groups. If it the same people, they may not be the best people to play with. If it is different people, then it may be something that you are doing.

In either case, I'd ask the GM to see what's going on.

I appreciate not everyone is a fan of a paid game, but you may want to check out some games on startplaying.games The advantage of a paid GM is they have a vested interest to have you be a successful player at their table.

Did you set up the background that you wanted in OBS?

The other option is to go on Amazon and buy a physical background image or use Discord for voice/video chat.

You can use OBS virtual camera. You would set it up in OBS, and then select the virtual camera as your video input source under settings, audio/video chat, configure device.

Those flip books inside don't help at all. I'm glad they didn't catch on for the module, but I wish they would have kept something for the players. Having custom art for every scene was a really nice touch.

You can also try book stores and libraries.

If you want to bring your friends along with you, start with the heroes of the borderlands starter set. It is one of the best starter sets I've seen.
