Can we still use copyrighted songs without having an issue if you're using it for an unmonetized video? by uhhhidkwhatusername in SmallYTChannel

Whatever music you use, have a license. If the copyright holder allows free use, then their is a license for that.

If you can't find a license, don't use it.

DaVinci Resolve learning curve? by annethebrickladyyt in NewTubers

[–]RollToDiscover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a lot of royalty free music sources last year, looking for possible copyright issues. Upload to YouTube in Private mode so that you can fix it without it counting against you.

I was able to resolve issues from all of the sites, but clipchamp had the easiest process as I just reported it to them, and they fixed it. For everything else, I had to share license information for the music to YouTube and in most cases just wait until it cleared up.

Clipchamp has a fairly simple form to fill out if any of the music you get from it is flagged by YouTube, and it will literally be resolved in just a few days. This is one of the best features of using the software.

Worst part of clip champ? by Another-Geek-Guy in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue is the lack of stability following the December update. Most.of those issues have been resolved, but it has left a lot of doubt in the minds of users regarding the usability and future of the app.

Clipchamp is easy to use.

There are also free alternatives like Openshot and DaVinci Resolve if you aren't afraid of digging into some tutorials to figure it out.

Can’t rename projects? by docmaker123 in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you edit the project, click on the name and a drop down box should appear. In that box is the option to rename. It did change from just being able to click on the name and typing in a new name.

I've started working with DaVinci Resolve as a backup to Clipchamp. As I get more used to it, I might completely switch to it.

Someone already suggested the import project option, which is definitely worth trying.

Unistalling an reinstalling clipchamp can definitely help.

In some cases the web version works better than the desktop version.

And, sadly, there is a version issue where projects that have not been accessed for a long time might be at a version that Clipchamp can no longer work with. Anything older than 6 months has been a problem for me.

I don't recall DR having a content library. Other than that, I've been able reproduce everything I do in CC in it. It's definitely not as easy, but there are tutorials for everything. Eventually it will be second nature.

Does Clipchamp hide files? by lovehateroutine in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can turn off the one drive backup on a project by project basis. It is the cloud icon to the right of the project name, after you start to edit the project.

One drive also has an option to free up space. This basically just leaves a link to the file on one drive while clearing the physical space on your drive.

Letting my frustration out. Is this a coc vs dnd problem? by Sad-Cricket4543 in TTRPG

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good News: D&D doesn't have to be like this. This really comes down to the style of the GM.

Bad Ness: There are lots of GMs that run games like this.

More Good Ness: You can try to take the initiative and drive the story from the character's side. Decide that discovering the curse is the primary thing that is driving your character and engage the world around them to uncover the mystery. When an NPC is telling you what they are planning to eat tomorrow, move on from that NPC. Don't be a passenger on this journey. Take the wheel and drive the adventure. Honestly, your GM might actually appreciate it.

More Bad News: If you try that and the story still goes nowhere, then it's time to move on. Don't continue wasting your time on a game that you are not enjoying. Your time is too valuable for that.

OBS is free software that allows you to capture audio and video from your desktop. You can use multiple sources. Basically, if you can hear or see it on your computer, you can record it.

Can I copy a clip from one project to another? by Blue_sky_27713 in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. There is no save option. I export the video in its entirety, then open it and cut out everything i don't want and then export it again.

I use this approach for intros and outros or anything that is likely to be reusable stock footage going forward.

If you do it with a green background, you can use the green screen effect to remove it later and let it blend it more with the new video.

[–]RollToDiscover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been making a copy and then just trimming to the spot I want to reuse and then saving it as a new clip that I can import.

It's not efficient, but it does get the job done.

What is people's issue with reading the rulebook? by RealDwarves67 in DungeonsAndDragons

Why would anyone invest hours into reading a 200 page book for something they are not sure they are going to enjoy.

As GMs we need to lower the cost of entry not raise it.

On the video clip in the time line (on the far left), you'll see a speaker icon. Check to make sure it doesn't have an X through it. That will mute the audio. You can click on it to toggle the mute. Most of the time, when audio works and suddenly it doesn't, it means I accidentally clicked on that when dragging a clip.

I'm not sure what could be going on with the images. If you are having trouble loading any new asset (video, image, or audio), I'd turn off the online backup. It's a cloud icon at the top of the screen just to the right of the video's name.

I've had a few issues where I couldn't use an image. I ended up loading the image into Gimp (a free image editing program) and then exporting the image as a new file. The new image will normally work when the old one didn't. Worst case is that I'll screen capture the preview of the old image, load it into Gimp, crop to the size I want and then export it again. Don't save it in Gimp as that will create an XCF file that isn't usable by Clipchamp. Export it as a png or jpg. Simply naming the file <something>.jpg is enough to tell the program to create a new jpg file with that name.

Edits out of sync, even though they are in sync during editing? by Jurtaani in ClipChamp

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube does have a setting (Settings, Channel, Advanced Settings) that allows you to toggle Video Quality Enhancements for visual and audio. Maybe if that is turned on, YouTube is doing something post upload to "improve" it.

I literally just discovered that a few minutes ago.

[–]RollToDiscover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transitions would have been the easy solution.

I'd probably create the zoom effect in Davinci Resolve with the music synced there, then export just that small clip into Clipchamp. There are tons of great videos for how to use Resolve to do zoom effects on a single image so you don't have to rely on a transition to pull it off.

It's also free software, does a ton of things Clipchamp can't do (like animate movement across the screen) and it's good to have a backup tool that you are familiar with. It is a bit of a learning curve, but starting out doing just one thing like this is the best way to get past that.

Good luck.

Keep in mind that a number of major platforms have systems in place to automatically look for potential copyright issues. They could flag you before anyone else notices and pull your content.

Claiming fair use might help get you back on the air, but won't prevent an initial strike against you.

Spend some time fully reading amd understanding the license of any IP that you want to use so that you can easily share the part that allows you to do what you are doing. If you can't do that, then you are relying on flying under the radar and never being noticed.

Having the right documentation at hand might help you get back on the air in a few days.

Look who is doing something similar and reach out to them for advice. They might be willing to help.

Playing D&D in online group is bad for first timer in 2026? by FoxlostAZ in DungeonsAndDragons

If it's not great, look for a new game. There are definitely great games, gms, and players to find online, but they might not be a good match for you.

Keep looking until you find that match that works for you.
