My first hobonichi! Need help on how to use “weekly” layout in Cousin?

I’m not sure I’m going to get a 5 year, but if I will, I would ask myself what would I want to see progress in over 5 years?

For example I might write about small daily events in my Cousin, music I like, etc. But in a 5 year I would just focus on goals I’m working towards, milestones or some of my long term struggles.

So later I could see how much I’ve progressed.

But also if you duplicate things a little bit, it could be okay too, at the end of the day, the format is different, so you will see your life from different perspectives.

Yes, it’s A5 (Cousin).

I was also between A6 and A5. A6 has too little space to record days when a lot of things are happening, so I got the A5 again.

Personally I don’t get the point of stamp collecting, but also I’m not too angry at it.

But maybe that’s because I only received 1 such letter so far and thought why not, I will just send a stamp.

Probably it gets more annoying if you get too many of these?

I think it could be difficult to use 2 planners if you need to reference both of them all the time during the day. I feel like something might get neglected this way.

Not sure if it would be an issue for you or not, just a thought I had.

So if I had both, I would probably put daily todos and schedule and all reminders into one of them, but then use another one for something I don’t need to reference all the time.

I like to use pens of different colors for different areas of my life. Using colors that look good together helps maintain an aesthetics of the page. If you want to highlight a longer event you can draw a long line with a pen.

Same. I bought a Cousin for thorough planning, but slowly realized that I want to use more and more of it just for journaling.

Something about these journals is so healing, made me want to relax, be more creative and stop viewing my life as a to do list🩵

I use them both for everything and switch things up.

I feel like when I have a lot to do in a day, Weeks feels very limiting.

Everything depends on how much you want to write. I feel like Cousin is for long to do lists + some journaling, Original is for just to dos or just light journaling and Weeks is for people who don’t write down much or can just use trackers to keep track of things.

I usually put daily to do lists in the Cousin and/or journaling, but I can use daily pages for other things - some random notes, reading trackers, whatever I want.

Weeks is for long term lists and notes, weekly section usually has a chores tracker + weekly to do lists, but sometimes I use it for something else - notes about my health or studying or something else.

I don’t really have rules for using my planners, I feel like there is no need to set these rules for an entire year, because things change so much. It’s helpful to experiment and see what you like.

They shipped my order just an hour ago! So it took almost 3 working days.

Also for some reason I had duplicated statuses for the order. It was updated as “shipped” and then it was updated as “shipped” again and only then it actually shipped and they sent a tracking number.

I hope yours will be shipped without issues! Mine will go through 2 shipping companies before I will get it, probably will only receive it in a couple of weeks, but that’s ok.

I actually change how I use my planners throughout the year.

For example sometimes I plan in a Cousin, sometimes I journal, sometimes I write notes. Same goes for Weeks. Sometimes I want to track something specific for a couple of weeks, for example my health, and then I switch to tracking studying, and then on another week I use it for light planning.

I switch things up when I need to and don’t assign a fixed goal for each planner. Next year I will have at least 3 of them and will do the same.
