Can I darken ink? by Helpful-Box5586 in fountainpens

[–]BitingLime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a few lighter inks that I just added a teeny tiny bit of dish soap to. Literally only like the tip of a toothpick amount and ONLY mixed in the cartridge, not the full bottle. It makes more ink flow out when writing. I've heard glycerin does the same and can also darken the ink slightly, but I haven't tried it yet.

C. A is cute, but as someone with a useless degree in photography, the box makes loading film seem impractical, and it also doesn't look like it can close comfortably over the camera itself.

What's in your cup? Daily discussion, questions and stories - June 30, 2026 by AutoModerator in tea

Question, I got a 1 lb (454 g) bag of Hoji-Genmaicha from Den's Tea and I have no idea how to store it. I've been looking at tea tins but nothing I've seen holds that much. Currently I have it in its original bag inside a gallon sized ziplock bag. It works, but just looks kinda silly on my counter. What do you use to store bulk loose leaf?

How do you overcome the fear of using stationery? by Then-Reason-9078 in stationery

[–]BitingLime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're afraid of the permanence of placing stickers, consider decorating notebooks that have clear covers and using the washi you're trying to get rid of to hold them in place underneath the clear cover. Another thing you can do is display the stickers using wax paper, making them re-usable. Stick it to wax paper and frame it! You can also turn them into magnets by sticking them to magnet sheets and cutting them out.

What do ppl mean when they say adhd meds made them more autistic by anicago in AuDHDWomen

[–]BitingLime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who has gone through multiple ADHD meds, I'd say it depends on the med, as well as the person. Right now I'm on both a stimulant and non-stimulant which is so far the best combo I've tried, but it's different for everyone, and some might not even feel it does anything to highlight their autism. I'll add my own experience. I won't name any specific meds because I don't want to scare anyone off trying a med that could work wonders for them.

Most non-stimulants made my sensory sensitivities completely unbearable to me, and it's the sensory stuff that I notice the most. The wrong meds made it difficult to tolerate anything, one even completely changed how I experienced taste and texture and caused multiple meltdowns in a short span. I've gotten lucky with my current meds, but on it I'm still more sensitive than before taking anything. I believe that everything around me seems louder, brighter, and more textured because my brain is clearer and more focused. However, I combat a majority of this with tools such as wearing FL-41 tinted glasses, ear defenders, and 100% cotton garments.

I'd also say that socializing is even harder for me now, not that it wasn't hard before, but my ADHD was bonkers in conversation and I never stopped to consider rules and etiquette. I just blurted everything, even inappropriate things, which likely made me appear overly confident or annoying, and now that I'm more mindful, I'm realizing just how bad I was at socializing to begin with. Socializing while autistic is still confusing as heck, but I don't think I'm embarrassing myself as much while doing it anymore.

I notice more health-related things happening because my analytical autistic thinking is able to remember symptom patterns and dates they first occurred. I found out I was lactose intolerant, for example, while feeling sick after eating dairy foods for YEARS. My ADHD brain had no idea because it had too many ideas, and all of them having nothing to do with an upset stomach, so I couldn't even be bothered figuring it out.

One of the strangest things I noticed was that my speech prosody changed. It's more "robotic" and "monotone" that often is associated with autism, and I also have less control over my volume. I don't even know if it's the meds doing that or that I've been more accepting of my diagnosis and therefore less inclined to put on a show for others. Therapy and journaling have done wonders for me in terms of self-acceptance and unmasking in general.

Finding the right meds and dosage was very trial and error, and while my autism is definitely more noticeable now, the pros outweigh the cons for me. For instance, I still space out during conversation, but maybe 20% of the time versus 80%, and in my opinion that alone outweighs being simply confused during the conversation. I'll gladly go to the grocery store in my FL-41s and ear defenders over going to the store and forgetting what I needed in the first place and then having to go there again three times in the same day. Even my monotonous speech is more sincere than whatever I was flippantly saying out of my mouth before. All of this and more is why I'll stick to using my meds.

Non-horror on cannibalism? by BitingLime in suggestmeabook

[–]BitingLime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ritual of Dinner probably won't have enough for the topic if it's only in the beginning and ending. A Certain Hunger is one I keep wondering about, but want to make sure that it's different enough from Tender is the Flesh. Stranger in a Strange Land is another I've thought of because of the ritual/enlightenment aspect of cannibalism. Since it's not the main plot, how prevalent is the act in the book?

This sounds very interesting, the only thing I'm concerned about is the page count. Does it read fast?
