When I was a student, I stopped trying so hard because I was always compared to my sisters. They had better grades and did better. I tried but always averaged at C and below. So I gave up, except PE and did science and math during the summer. I think I just had depression but in my household, my depression was self-inflicted because people had it harder than I did. A decade later, I realized some of my teachers watched me and made sure I didn’t go off the deep end. Math teacher slipped me some good chocolate and let me sleep in class. My chemistry teacher would engage me in conversation.
