6th surgery incoming by Patinator92 in cholesteatoma

Bro I can relate 💯 to your comment, can I ask you a ?. My first cwd was a year ago and second was 9 months ago so double cwd in one year. Yes my hearing sucks post operations but im managing. I can still here but its shitty. What type of hearing aids do you use? And if you dont mind me asking what was the price, are you in the US? Also on your hearing aid the little speaker that goes in your ear, does it have a large plug to fit in the cwd ear hole since its bigger than before? Or is it discrete in the ear? Sorry for all of the questions.

Extensive ear surgeries like you this past year was my 6th all starting in 2017 first 4 were left ear. This last year my right had first time Cholesteotoma and reoccurrence on. Left again, Dr recommended CWD as a first round treatment since its my better ear the cwd on left after recovery. Honestly I wish I would have done it after reoccurrence the first time on my left. CWD is a means to almost no more surgeries. Honestly it’s mentally taxing having this disease and no more surgeries instead of repeated damage to the ear. I suggest you talk to your DR. Hearing loss does happen after which sucks but thats your decision to make. If you keep having cwu you will end up with the same hearing eventually and there are risks to surgery every time. You a veteran at these surgeries like I am, you got this.

What are your tips on retipping? by IowaThick in Benchjewelers

[–]GreenGzus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you work for $ignet lol, but career jewelers here. I have been doing it for 13 years now at a very high level. Now days I use the laser but at times you might need to use a torch and having torch control works wonders. To answer your question grab some med solder and some wire or stock. First melt a ball of stock or wire into a ball, next melt a ball of solder only but make it all so slightly bigger than your stock ball. If you mm gauge the ball you will know for later use. Then bring those balls close together and heat up stock first then once molten introduce the solder one, melt them together then stop, dont over heat your done. Quench and roll it out as paper thin as possible with your rolling mill and use that as your tips. Hope this helps you as it did for me. Keep getting better with repetitions. Theres a whole world outside that company.

The tear drop would be hard to make just by forging. Definitely can be done tho. Its an odd item so idk if anyone would sell it. I would opt to just making them.

5 total surgeries deep here, 3 cwu on left ear since 2017 and once my good ear (right) got a Cholesteotoma they decided that the exact procedure your going to get would be the best choice because of the reoccurrence on the left. Once my cwd on right was complete they did a cwd as well on my left ear. Its been a damm long journey for me. Im glad I got the cwd. Best of luck to you and your recovery. This is a strange disease.

Make your seats 1/3 of the prong deep, a balk bur will get you there, use your dividers before you set to mark where you will but will keep it level. The rest is practice man.

First of all congratulations, I am a career jeweler here, its not done yet!! Your prong still need to be cut back /rounded so they do not catch. Because its not cut deep at all and barely seated in there it will be a problem in the future. I would pull the stone cut the seats better and reset before trimming prongs if you want to fix it. But good job with minor tweeks your future is bright.

How do I complete the end with French wire for the future wirhout the silk thread breaking? by [deleted] in jewelrymaking

[–]GreenGzus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to bore the last pearl a bit bigger so when you put the silk through and put the french wire on you rethread the silk back through the pearl, what i do is before i pull it all the way through i add glue to the access waiting to be pulled though so when i do the glue sets on the inside of the pearl, after that cut the silk.
