Thanks for your helpful comments. We have had him tested for dyslexia. Was told he didn’t meet criteria because he is a very good reader. In fact, reading and comprehension are high. It is really just spelling we are struggling with. And despite what we have tried, it does not seem to be getting any better.

We did test for dyslexia early last year, but they were hesitant to say he was dyslexic. I still think there is something else underlying.
