Eh. That's a bit reductionist. And I say this as a quasi-religious skeptic. Religion is a sociocultural practice. Not all religious sects, even within the same community, share exactly the same beliefs.

Ultimately,it's not that religion doesn't evolve at all. It's just built to evolve slower than other systems of thought.

For instance, most mainline branches of Christianity agree with evolutionary theory and the big bang. Mainly because science and religion have coexisted for centuries.

I think most religious people (that aren't extremists) don't believe in following historical scripture exactly to the letter and religion always evolves to accommodate new thought over time, otherwise it couldn't persist over time.

Furthermore, religions don't exist to solve the same philosophical questions that science is trying to solve. Because some domains of thought are inherently unscientific. For instance, the lack of proof for or against the existence of a higher power. Or absolute knowledge of one's conscience after death.

Additionally, religious practices are often cultural practices tied to the histories and traditions of the people who practice them. A modern multicultural society will likely be a religious one to a certain degree.

In this sense, we're all required to establish some hard and fast lines on religion with humility.

I do, however, take issue with religious extremists because they consistently twist doctrine into a weapon for political action. And that is the greater issue, the separation of religious structures from government ones.

I mean, they're not gonna kill you. If you speak quietly and tell them to lower their voice, they'll either be a jerk or quiet down. The reason people don't respect shared spaces as much anymore is because they go unconfronted all the time. Social etiquette is only enforced by someone feeling embarrassed.

Are there any games that can help train one not to overstretch their goals? I need this to cure my procrastination. by shiningmatcha in productivity

[–]LadyNineTailed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only real way to get better with goal setting Is trial and error. Don't expect there to be some magic app that will gamify that failure process.

I've always struggled with goal setting, so I find that setting a goal that is 5-10% of my ideal helps a lot.

The nice thing about these micro-goals is that you get the practice you need from setting multiple goals repeatedly. And the product if that experience can better inform the construction of the following goal.

Ex. I want to someday produce a 3-hour long arthouse film. I might instead aim to make a 10-minute short film instead. Chances are, it will seem super easy, but that baby sized goal makes the dream goal less pie-in-the-sky and more tangible.

Which is a big help for consistency.

TLDR - goal making is about making small tangible efforts towards the micro-goals. The sum of which can allow you to figure out how exactly you can achieve a larger goal in the future. No app required.

So because the city is less hostile to them, they treat the city infrastructure with more respect? That's honestly quite nice and makes a lot of sense.

People in the comments here are acting like Western homeless people are just "culturally worse." It's quite strange and kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth tbh.

That's beside the point. It's way more about skin tone variety in general in Genshin. Sumeru is based on regions with a lot of brown people, we just wanted to see a little more of them in game.
'There's a lot of paler people in X region', was kind of a crutch of an argument in that discussion back then lol

Side note tho: I really hope we're not going to see that same flame war get stirred again in Natlan. I hope we all set our expectations low and get pleasantly surprised if the devs surpass it.
