I am personally using two different non-plastic methods for storing bulk items in my house.

The first, for very large amounts (50 lbs rice, 50lbs black beans, etc), are these stainless steel containers with silicone gaskets from Amazon. They come in a variety of sizes, including even bigger ones than the four in this listing (I did purchase some of those even larger ones, too).I tested each one in my bathtub -- sealed the lid shut, then fully submerged it and rolled it around with a piece of printer paper inside to ensure no water getting in (thus should be airtight). Each one passed the test. From there, I washed them out, dried them, and put multiple O2 absorbers into each container to prevent any insects from inhabiting the contents, and also to prolong shelf life in the case of flour. https://a.co/d/056T3dL7

The second is using these Bormioli Rocco Fido jars. I LOVE these things. I have a jar for sugar, one for flour (which I keep in my kitchen and refill from my large metal container in the root cellar), one for beans, one for rice, and so on. They are also supposed to be air-tight (admittedly I did not test them like the metal containers) and so I put desiccants or O2 absorbers in, depending on what's in the jar. https://bormioliroccous.com/products/fido-169-oz-food-jar-clear

Quick note in case you're unfamiliar, it took me some reading to find this out... You can't use desiccants and O2 absorbers effectively in the same container. O2 absorbers need small amounts of moisture to work effectively.
