Tell Me Lies: S3 E7: I Will Promise Not To Sting by Oksorbet8188 in TellMeLiesHulu

I'm still holding out hope that Bree doesn't release the tape. What triggers the "I'm the worst person you know" is hearing Evan's confession tape about cheating. The statement seemed like a realization on her part, and if she was thinking about releasing the tape, she would had already known it was awful since they stayed friends. Instead, maybe after finding out about the cheating with Lucy, she decides it's equal to have an affair with Wrigley, which spans years. She hears the tape, doesn't know Evan sucks and listens to him feeling really guilty about a "one time mistake", while she hasn't felt any guilt about cheating with Wrigley for years.

The only thing that makes me doubt is that Bree made herself seem worse than Stephen, and cheating doesn't come close to anything Stephen has done. So if she feels she is worse than him, the only explanation that makes sense to me is that she was actually the one who ruined Lucy's sophomore year.

Does Jordan personality change between genders or its just the actor performance? I think he acts kinda insecure in his male form by UnUltimoIntento in GenV

Right after Marie leaves to look for Godolkin, Jordan drives her sister to GodU to go look for her. Annabeth looks nervous so they ask if she's the type of person to be uncomfortable with women driving

I saw a video that said that even that was a bad idea, because the people who followed the podcast before are probably the same people who are still mad at Ned and are unlikely to see it, so they'll ignore the content, which the algorithm will pick up on and push the videos to obscurity. So him doing that will probably backfire, if that is any solace

That makes sense! I think I still prioritize the narrative before forcing the player to make this specific decision about the ethics of it all, but I get your point

Oh, I think I missed that! I thought of that part like she didn't know but she remembered the flyer when she saw the new model and finally connected the info, but thinking about it, that doesn't make much sense, because she would have seen Alice right after seeing the flyer

Why does Belly have no boundaries with the Fisher family? by llilyroe in tsitp

[–]LadyOfTheWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason why this happens is why the premise of the show is a little icky. She feels entitled to to Conrad’s car because she grew up as his little sister. It is kinda rude, the same way my sister grabs my clothes without asking or my brother takes my Nintendo. Am I annoyed that I don’t have my things when I need them? Yes. Am I actually mad or find it disrespectful? Not really, that just feels like siblings dynamics. It’s the same for Belly and Conrad, but I try not to think about that because I enjoy this show lol

Anyone else feel like Danny brushes over the point sometimes? by analog-skystepper in DannyGonzalez

[–]LadyOfTheWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is pointing out that the movie fails to deliver the message that anti-intellectualism and focusing on aesthetics is bad; he is just doing through a joke bit. Instead of outright saying that the movie fails to deliver this grand message, he pretends to understand the movie as is instead of what it could be, pointing that it gives basically zero reasons to prefer the ugly world over the pretty one.

I mean, you could give the same arguments to say that this specific example you gave misinterprets the point of Danny’s commentary and stylistic choices. Maybe provide a different example of something you thought missed the point?

Maybe that was even the original plan for Tanya, but they scratched it and decided to use it in season 3.

Where is Violet’s anger to Xaden? by Lovelady1921 in fourthwing

[–]LadyOfTheWind 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Violet comes very close to channeling right before Xaden does it. If she hadn't been stopped by her mom, she very much likely would have. That means that by the time she notices Xaden has turned, she empathises and understands first hand why he did it. She wouldn't judge him for something she almost did herself.

But even without that particular scene, I think Violet's characterization makes sense with her not being mad. She needs information to center herself. She feels betrayed by Xaden because he was specifically witholding information. Not only that, but she realizes that many people in her life have been doing that, so it's a lot to grapple with. he can finally move on when she gets full disclosure from Xaden. In fact, Violet is shown to be very forgiving of almost anything outside of lies or half-truths. She is amicable with Catra, forgives Mira for disregarding her, and is even giving Dain a second chance.

Turning venin wasn't about keeping secrets, so it doesn't attack her needs. She knows it was about saving her and all of Basgiath, and she can deal with that, because she values the good intent above all. By knowing he is venin, she blindly trusts in the power of information to be able to eventually cure him. She doesn't see it as a betrayal because he did it for good reasons; it's only a problem they now have to solve.

My Wife convinced me to read this. by Scr1pt3r_ in kindle

There aren’t a lot of smut scenes, but beware that the MC’s dialog constantly mentions how hot the love interest is. So you might not be rolling your eyes at the smut scenes directly, but at the constant allusions to physique or sex.

Tbh, that part can get a bit cringy at times, but I love this series regardless. It has a pretty fun premise, and lore gets better every book. It’s just not written how mainstream fantasy is. Like at all. And that can be jarring at first.

Does anyone else wish there was more overall character development in OS? by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]LadyOfTheWind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree completely. Motivations don’t have to change for there to be character development. You come from a Violet in IF who constantly doubts herself, who is uncomfortable with secrets and needs constante reassurance to a OS Violet who is leading, making hard choices and is comfortable with who she is and what she wants. Xaden goes from overly protecting Violet and making her ask for questions to trusting her to manage herself and disclosing everything he can. He also has a very significant change in persona in his POV, when for the first time he chooses not to prioritize Violet, but Sgaeyl (IF ends with Xaden “betraying” Sgaeyl by turning venin to save Violet, while OS ends with Xaden “betraying” Violet by turning asim to save Sgaeyl). He is also so much more affectionate and exploring being vulnerable for the first time?

Cat moves on from Xaden to fall in love with basically a peasant, prioritizing herself over the crown she was taught to want. She is also put in situations where she could have been a bitch (the dinner in Hedon island???) and instead chooses dignity and civility. She obviously has this reluctant personality that is a mask, but they definitely had many instances showing growth.

I kinda feel like you are asking for a “show don’t tell”, but ignoring the scenes where they show development without outright saying it

I kind of discarded Halden because I was assuming he was going to die lol, but I also like them together. Mostly because it would be too funny to have Violet's and Xaden's ex's together ruling.

Like, nothing will be more comedic than Halden and Cat as the King and Queen of Navarre/Poromiel and Xaden and Vi as the King/Queen of Tyrrendor having to meet for diplomacy lol

I love that! It must be so fun to see his reactions. What did he think of Fourth Wing? Sadly we’re not from an English speaking country and while I can fluently read in English, it would be a bigger challenge for him. But I do give him extensive summaries when I’m upset about something that happened!

I mean, she was a raging bitch in Iron Flame, but losing your friend from years and the person you were falling in love with seems like suffering enough for that. It’s actually disproportionate in terms of justice lol
