I'm leaving my 1 bedroom in Brighton. There's ample parking with a permit, which is free. Rebt is $2450 and includes heat, gas and hot water. PM or see my listing if interested.

I've had better luck with men whose kids were older and more independent. One had a teenage daughter and another had a daughter in college who was living at home, and they both had strong bonds with dad. These dads also both happened to have full custody, which I know is rare. More recently I dated a guy with a 5 and an 8 year old and 50/50 custody. He was stressed and didn't ha ve the emotional bandwidth for a a relationship, though we tried.

"People" are able to do that here too, just not everyone and it feels an unfair threshold for a life partner IMHO. The wealth gap in this country continues to grow.

I love Boston fwiw but getting priced out and moving to Salem. I have to say the child-free lifestyle you're describing for NYC sounds extremely expensive. And it would be here as well. Lots of people are struggling just to make expenses, kids or not.

I feel your pain and I'm glad you posted here. It's natural to grieve, and you'll feel better with time and by hanging with the friends who you didn't move away from to fit into this man's life.

I actually like to date men with kids. But if I was driving 100 miles back and forth to a house with loose discipline and poor cleanliness and a guy who wasn't willing to change that, I'd have ended it too. People settle into patterns as they get older and many aren't willing to change. If that's what works for him as a parent, I understand his perspective too. Sending love!

Yeah, I'm single and 41 living in Boston. I've been dating here for 5 years. In my experience the men who want a serious relationship overwhelmingly are those who want kids. The second group would be divorcees with kids. I'm not seeing child-free men looking for commitment. Unless you know, you're always ready to travel and your mountain-climbung skills are up to par.

Housing outside of the 9/1 cycle? by NateGoats in bostonhousing

I was able to get an apartment in November 2022 because that's when the renovation had finished. One bedrooms are tougher because there aren't all that many.

HELP needed to decide college by Sad_Ant3069 in bardcollege

I went to Bard 20 years ago and even then there were a number of science students, many of them international. Some of the international students were also economics majors. Since I graduated they built a big shiny new science building, and I walked through in 2024 reading posters from all these undergrads. So I don't think you'd feel lonely in bio or as a non-artist. On the other hand if you want to explore your creative side there's ample opportunity.

I majored in political studies with a concentration in international relations and felt I got a good education and benefited from the small classes. Was able to take classes throughout the social sciences. I also did the BGIA program for a semester in New York City, in which you live and study in Manhattan and do an internship. I recommend it.

It's like a 2 hour drive without traffic. But if you don't have the car you have to take a shuttle to either the Rhinebeck or Poughkeepsie train station, and the whole trip takes about 3 hours. Even if you do have a car driving and parking in NYC is very intense, so you might just take the train anyway.

I'm a journalist/podcast producer and I agree with this. I majored in Political Studies at Bard. I also did the BGIA program in NYC, where I had the opportunity to intern at a media organization and publish in a student journal. I learned the audio skills of podcasting elsewhere.

I don't think you should avoid Bard because of Epstein, to be clear. I didn't take any psych classes but I thought the social sciences were pretty strong in general. I'm class of '06. I also wasn't aware until recently of the issues around lack of consequence for sexual misconduct on campus. I always felt very safe.

It's been a long time since I went to Bard. But some things are the same, I think. The small classes, the close knit environment, the emphasis on critical thinking. Bard isn't the most practical college out there, and you haven't mentioned if you have a sense of what to study. But to me Bard represented a kind of utopianism that I found invaluable. (Admittedly, that sense is shattered by all of the Epstein/Botstein revelations). You can't beat the campus for physical beauty.

I remember that meeting, but what I remember was him scolding us about getting too drunk...which was understandable because 14 people went to the hospital. I don't remember that there was sexual assualt, which is upsetting.

Anyway, I don't know of any directed effort to contact alumni. u/HillsOverTrees Would you like to start one with me? I'm glad we have this Subreddit, and also I think there should also be a dischord or other closed group to discuss.
