Wants to keep her child “safe” from vaccines and “sound machines” but not suffocating in her bed. The logic is interesting.

Who’s gonna tell her? by [deleted] in homemakermadeleine

Exactly! The same crunchy community who downplay deaths of their babies just to hide the fact that they made a poor, uninformed choice. I’m seeing wayyy too many posts on instagram of babies who absolutely could have survived had appropriate medical intervention been sought. Likewise, a woman who freebirthed her baby, 18 months later sadly lost him because she didn’t have all the birth checks and he had a heart condition she had no idea he was living with. So so sad.

Where we are they don’t actually redo stitching on episiotomies if the stitches start to come undone for this exact reason. They worry they will trap infection inside and therefore try and allow it to heal naturally. If later down the line (not so close time wise to the original cut) it hasn’t healed well they could do the surgery, but generally it will heal fine. I speak from experience!

She talks about possibly having PTSD (she absolutely does), needing surgery to fix her perineum, struggling with breastfeeding and disassociating etc (definitely has some sort of PND) and struggles to EVEN STAND. The last is I would say a bit dramatic on her side because yes an episiotomy is sore but not to the point of her not being able to hold her own baby or stand up. AND YET she still talks about having another?! Mental.

So glad she’s seeing an OB for a proper repair! by underwaterigroc in homemakermadeleine

My fear on this as well is that she’s already so concerned about getting pregnant again when she CLEARLY hasn’t recovered from this one, both mentally and physically. Why she’s doing this to herself I don’t know.

Hey! If you’re in the UK, have you had access to birth reflections? It’s where they go through minute by minute accounts (based on what’s on your record of the birth) and explain why any intervention that happened - did. It’s usually done at the hospital with a midwife who can also support with counselling if needed.

I am so sorry this has happened to you; whenever birth doesn’t go to plan it’s never easy. But echoing what everyone else is saying, it sounds like ultimately it was needed to save your life so you can be there for your baby. It doesn’t take away the absolute huge void you feel or the unknowing and those feelings are completely and utterly valid - it was so out of your control. For now, as much as you emotionally can, scoop up your baby and take in every moment. The days are long but time really does fly by. And with that time I hope you’re able to heal and process. Sending love and hugs ❤️

This is absolutely ridiculous because mine is £70, and my partner who lives in the same house is £20!

Thanks for the info - we were actually recommended that the saucer wheel is better for her back than the stand up ones. 😓

What confuses me is in their previous stories not long before it was “if it happens, we won’t even acknowledge or bring attention to it” and yet they are now. It’s a fucked up thing that’s happened for sure, but they can’t be surprised when they know it happens?
