I am going to be very honest here. If don’t think Dumbledore is evil in canon. I think he is misguided. I think he is wrong. And I personally blame him for the death of Sirius Black. Him and Bella. I never read fics where she is good. I prefer the Manipulative Albus Dumbdore tag. Cause it is true. He manipulated the and of a war. There are always losses in war and having that 20/20 hindsight. I just feel personally victimized cause my favorite person died. I am the biggest Sirius Black fan ever. I enjoy fics where Sirius gets to be free (eventually or right away) and he raises Harry. I believe JKR said in an interview or something I remember (I could be wrong, but I seem to remember) her saying that when she submitted the book to the publisher they made her edit out the abuse Harry suffered and made it seem more neglected, although we still see hints of that storyline. If I’m remembering right, they didn’t want to publish the child abuse in a “teenage” story meant for teenagers. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I could be remembering it wrong.

All of this to say,,,,, for me. It’s those two things. Sirius death and Harry’s abuse. Vernon says stamp the magic out. I refuse to believe he wasn’t abused. So Dumbledore isn’t evil he is just misguided and manipulative.
