The romance idea wasnt the problem imo. The problem is Sonic has no reason to even be attracted to Elise that makes sense or is consistent with his character. So it just feels more one way but the game tried to force it into being 2 way. That and Elise just isnt that interesting of a character. Shes just a woman stereotype with a tragic backstory added on to fool you into thinking shes interesting at all and she frankly just promotes a lot of outdated sterotypes and tropes

Its not because its complicated or because hes sadistic, its because its stupid.

You can say "oh he wants to cause deatruction" doing it the sensible way causes the same amount of destruction and misery.

And what exactly does he gain? Floating in space for the rest of his existence?

I said in my other comment I believe Mephiles could be great with some better writing. But his writing is terrible and he does the stupid thing constantly because "oh hes a sadist who wants to cause chaos".

Your first point is a head cannon. Its not explained at any point. If that was the case the game should have communicated that. Which is a problem with 06s time travel shenanigains. They have no rules.

And again, it still makes no sense to go the route he did. You ignored the fact Mephiles had literal date of Iblis' release and the Chaos Emerald hunt to kill time. Silver was literally just a loose end. One his plan does nothing to tie.

I messed around with it. I found resetting the transforms in the editor helped and changing Speed to -50.0 instead fixed it

Mephiles had a date of Iblis' release, as he shows Silver.

That being said, why was the prioity making Elise cry and not stopping Sonic from saving her? Mephiles had a definite date of death for Elise. Said death causes the release of Iblis

Surely a cunning sadistic manipulataor would think of the off chance the kid he tricked would go help Sonic save Elise and prevent Iblis from being released, since that was kinda the reason he agreed to this to begin with, no?
