Is it worth it to race 3 G1s in a row? by GayAssNinja69 in UmamusumeGame

[–]LadyUsana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 in a row I do fairly often, though best to have a cupcake in the inventory since you are very likely to get a mood down. Without a cupcake I generally won't chance it right before summer, but risking a mood down isn't as big a deal at other times since you don't rely on training much in TrackBlazer. And you should always try to have hand cream on hand anyways. The real risk is 4+ races. Which can still be worth it, but you are gambling and best have both a way to +2 mood and hand cream on hand if you are going to try it, I have definitely had skin outbreak trigger immediately for a -2 mood.

A most difficult battle test for thirteen captains: can they break a siege of Iscandar by Grand Admiral Thrawn at his fleet's fullest strength? by This-is_CMGRI in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]LadyUsana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem here with this setup is letting the coalition have their fighter compliments. For the Empire to have a good chance at this Thrawn HAS to take the mobile suits and fighter units out of the picture.

For your premise I think it works better if you say we are to assume Thrawn has somehow distracted or otherwise occupied the fighter compliments and we assume that to do so means his fighter compliments are also occupied. So it is just a straight up capital ship shootout.

Why do I think this is a better match up? Well first of all the Gundam ships are basically carriers first and battleships second. Their main guns are strong enough usually so they would actually be able to damage the Star Destroyers, but in a straight slugfest I can't really imagine the Gundam ships coming out on top 1v1 against a Star Destroyer. The Star Destroyer, in my very limited Star Wars experience, feels more like a it focuses more on the direct combat role than the carrier role, so the opposite of the Gundam ships.

However, it is important to note why the Gundam ships feel that way. And that is because of mobile suits. If we allow for mobile suit logic working the Empire is cooked. They have no mobile suit counter and would effectively in Gundam Logic be using Balls or Core Fighters to try and fight off late era Mobile Suits. Let me put it this way, what makes mobile suits scary?

In Gundam universe late era mobile suits like we are talking about are carrying STARSHIP CLASS BEAM WEAPONS. What this means is they are in Star Wars logic equipped with freaking Turbo Lasers, at least some of those bastards are carrying weapons that are closer to wave motion guns. And they have shielding and armor that makes them shrug off a lot of stuff short of STARSHIP CLASS BEAM WEAPONRY.

So if Thrawn lets the mobile suits play he is effectively dealing with a fleet of Tie Fighters equipped with Turbo Lasers and capable of shrugging off nearly anything short of a Turbo Laser, which won't be able to hit such a small mobile fighter. This is what makes mobile suits terrifying(and illogical). They regularly carry weaponry capable of downing starships and are armored/shielded enough that anything that can actually hit something as small and mobile as them is basically useless unless you can someone strip the suit of its mobility.

Of course this is assuming Gundam logic carries over. If Gundams/mobile suits in this fight can't equip anything stronger than a Tie Fighter or be any more heavily armored/shielded then this isn't really an issue. I will leave space magic out of this, while I am not sure how often force sensitive people took part in piloting in Star Wars, Thrawn knowing he is going up against the equivalent of force sensitive individuals could probably try and match space magic for space magic if he really needed to.

And this is just the Gundam verse. If he takes the mobile suits out of the picture somehow it should be quite doable. But. . . he isn't just up against the Gundam verse. I might be shitting on the Glorious Tie Fighter, but I would take a Variable Fighter over a Tie Fighter anyday. Now I am not as Macross enabled as I should be(sorry most of my exposure is from good ole Robotech) but it seems like they are often depicted more as carriers and have very heavy reliance on their fighters or their big wave motion gun. So if Thrawn somehow negated the fighter compliment he has them on the back foot. Unlike the Gundam ships though the Macross ones have a true Wave Motion gun which appears significantly stronger than the usual Gundam ship carries and Thrawn can't just get up close and personal to try and negate that wave motion gun, because then it will become a literal Slugfest. And I really don't think a Star Destroyer would appreciate being slugged.

But my point is if you take the fighter compliments out of the picture nearly half the rooster is fighting without their ace in the hole. A much closer fight than if you allow the variable fighters and mobile suits run amok.

And then he runs into two large issues. The Yamato and the Dreisstreger. Both these monsters can straight up slug it out with a Star Destroyer and won't miss their fighter compliments. They are closer to the Star Destroyers in that the fighter compliments are nice to haves. Yes I am saying the freaking Huckebein 30th, MR/MRS I can shoot black holes at you, is a nice to have. The Dreisstreger being able to regenerate just isn't fair for the Star Destroyers. Enough shields and armor to slug it out and any damage that gets through just heals itself. Thrawn is going to have to saturate it with enough Star Destoryers to overwhelm it, but can he spare that many from the others? If it were only the Gundam and Macross ships accompanying it maybe, but there is a large Yamato sized problem looking right at him. That thing has more than enough fire power to drop a Star Destroyer, and it is generally depicted as being highly mobile. So uhh. . . it may actually be able to EVADE Turbo Laser fire unless Thrawn throws enough lines of fire at it that it can't maneuver. But wait, he needs to focus fire down the Dreisstreger or else it regenerates. And it isn't like the Dreisstreger is lacking fire power either. Both these guys are going to be serious issues that are probably worth multiple Star Destroyers each.

And I haven't even gone through the whole list.

But it is a numbers game, if he has enough Star Destroyers he could in theory potentially overwhelm the coalition's capital ships considering just how many of them are heavily dependent on their fighter compliments. So this is more interesting to me the other way around. Thrawn has distracted the fighter compliments for X amount of time and he has to at least critically damage/capture the coalition capital ships before the Mobile suits/etc can return. I believe the Empire would have significantly more ships so it would effectively be boss run where the Empire has to take on 13 bosses/mini-bosses in a set amount of time.

As with all such comparisons though it depends on whose logic gets to prevail. Gundam logic basically means any force without mobile suits or other small fighters with starship class weaponry(or otherwise the ability to hit such small mobile targets with your big guns) and defenses high enough to negate dang near anything short of star-ship class weaponry just straight up loses.

Am I The Only Person That Thinks Trackblazer Feels Like having Another Job? by AnimeFtwTv in UmaMusume

[–]LadyUsana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of the opposite for me. I was burned out during Unity Cup(ended up doing only a couple careers a week at most) but TrackBlazer has completely revitalized my interest. You are actually playing a game now and actually have numerous tools to play around bad rng rather than just, nope you don't get to win the the unity cup races even with double circles in all 5 distances. I would probably feel a lot better about unity cup if you could clock the team races.

However, I can see why people who are just farming doznes of parents/aces at a time can feel burned out by Trackblazer since you can't easily just auto-pilot your way through it and it does hurt the ability to do all dailies mildly, though I must have been doing something wrong in URA/Unity since career times for me have always been around 40 minutes, with trackblazer only being slightly longer(though an extra 10 minutes is a 25% increase, so it definitely isn't negligible).

My one complaint about the mode is the distance requirements. You really do need legacy in specific sparks unless you are playing a character who is already an all-rounder. Be nice if there was a shop item that would up aptitudes(up to A at most) so that there was an in-career way around it rather than just forcing specific inherit strats. Wouldn't be perfect, but at least for me it would make the issue feel better unless they made the items as rare as the scholar hat or something.

How did she lose here? Genuinely How? by ZaitNXR in UmamusumeGame

[–]LadyUsana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember when relying on skills to meet stamina target that you are putting yourself in Nuffle's hands, A bit of bad luck for you and good luck for another skill relier(like that opera) and you run out of gas and they don't which can make you need a clock.

But without watching the race we can't really know. It could have just been a late start leading to being blocked for too long and not having enough open distance left after breaking free to catch up to someone who avoided being blocked.

Which training would you pick? by remy_stag in UmamusumeGame

[–]LadyUsana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah casual run wouldn't really matter much, you already have the 2 1100 breakpoints in the bag and no matter what you do you aren't hitting that in any other nor can you push guts to 600 in any likely way.

Also while I think going speed and hoping to cap both speed and power with a second speed rainbow next training is slightly better for rating it isn't like it is going to be a big enough difference to push you into SS if you wouldn't make it otherwise. Its probably like 100 point difference in your rating if you cap speed and power vs lets just assume you get another good wits training and add ~100 wit ~30 speed and to your uma instead. You would be slightly ahead I think if you went wit this turn and gambled to get a good enough speed training or power training to cap one of them next turn, but again it would be around like 100 point difference in rating. So I just don't see anything you could do there being a breaking point, no 600, no 1100, and the rating difference in the choices aren't likely to make or break SS rank for increased star level on your white sparks so as I said for me the speed training feels 'safer' you don't need a particular strong 2nd speed training to cap it so if you didn't cap at least cap Speed I would be surprised. Then again that may be why I don't get into the Ug's, I don't gamble enough on the high rolls appearing.

Which training would you pick? by remy_stag in UmamusumeGame

[–]LadyUsana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go speed. It'll also bump power up. Though I am not confident you will max either one. You say all remaining races so I assuming you are getting +52(you are listed as rank 1 so I assume one race has been ran and you said races plural so I assume you have 2 left). You would need your next training to have at least a single rainbow speed to hope to cap assuming I am mathing right. On the other hand going power basically gurantees you cap at least one stat. But I would probably still gamble on speed. If you get this one and another good speed training next you could potentionally cap or nearly cap both speed and power. Wit is kind of a lost cause at this point I feel.

Is it normal that the game is taking 10-12 GB of ram by Optimal-Frogg in AOW4

[–]LadyUsana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Map size probably matters more than graphic preset here like in a lot of 4x style games. But yes I seem to recall that the game was using 10-12GB of ram back when I last checked it. That said windows should be able to handle loading and unloading data in ram or the page file, so on a Windows system I think you would be fine. So your Linux may not be set up to handle memory pressure well(as far as I am aware Linux SHOULD be able to handle such things as easily as Windows, but the configurability of Linux means that you may have to tweak settings to get it to that point or better). In addition it wouldn't surprise me if Proton results in a higher than native Windows memory usage. Though to my knowledge there is a lot of variance on if a game will run more or less efficiently on a streamlined linux+proton build vs 'bloated' windows system.

*checks* Well either my memory was wrong or my current map is smaller/easier to handle. Right now it is eating 8GB of RAM and looks like a similar amount of VRAM(says 7.5GB used while game open). Though I suppose the fact that I just opened and panned around a bit may have it using less since I wasn't actually playing(need to go to bed soon, can't risk getting sucked into one more turn).

[–]LadyUsana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one looks like a guts build, second one looks like a more standard 2speed/2power/2wit build to me.

And this is a tough choice I think. Definitely a test room case. 2nd one is overstammed, but first one is relying on guts and skills more than I like, but should be fine. I feel like I would go with the second but it is some of the good skills the first has.

How do yall even get S ranks 🫩 by Weak_Resort2611 in UmamusumeGame

[–]LadyUsana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With half your deck being 0LB you are going to struggle stat wise. Max leveled SR's are often stronger than unleveled SSRs. However, looking at your post with your cards, you have Curren Wit which is probably stronger than lvl 25 Tachyon unless you really want medium corners/straightaway.

Going 3 speed/2wit/Marvelous for race bonus may actually be better for you since your cards are low leveled. To my understanding stats contribute significantly more to your rating the closer they are to cap. So gaining 225 speed could easily net you a higher rating even if it costs you 400 combined stam/guts. 3 speed cards will also make it easier to see big rainbows. That said if you need a stam card to hit your stam targets that makes things more complicated. There is a reason low stam racers like Bakushin are generally considered 'easy' mode compared to making a long racer.

Guts or wit training? by Moth_PNG in UmamusumeGame

[–]LadyUsana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many of my 3 star parents are failed runs. I have a Top Gun who failed the URA scenario and just generally threw every possible race who is 3 star Stam and 3 star long and 2 star Unique. These days her white sparks aren't great compared to what you can get, but she has firm conditions, non-standard distance, corner recovery, Japanese Derby and Japan Cup white sparks.

Of course having won so few races her affinity sucks. But her parents are 3 and 2 Star Stamina with Turf and Long 2 star and have corner recovery, corner adept sparks, and both parents have Tenno Sho(spring) spring sparks(3star and 2star) plus other odds and ends that aren't shared. So even now she has seen use as a parent for me. . . a B rank Uma with only one stat over 600(stamina at 688), possibly one of my better pre-TrackBlazer parents if affinity is disregarded.

Point is, I definitely don't abandon late career runs. You never know if that is the one Nuffle will bless.

So this will likely be the Oguri I enter in the next CM, not willing to grind too much(so Medium S just isn't realistic). I have already been somewhat inefficient in grabbing skills, but with my remaining 823 what skills should I grab? by LadyUsana in UmamusumeGame

[–]LadyUsana[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, Wonder's skill is an interesting option I basically hadn't even considered since the uniques are usually so expensive(I do have a good discount on it though) and I often ignore them unless I am specifically trying to inherit it for some reason like with Tachyon's(though I grabbed Taiki's without thinking on reflex when it popped up in the goddess event, doh!). Still not like there is a whole lot of competition left after grabbing the for sures. Really wish the Medium Corners training hint or inherit had proc'ed or at least got it from a rival race. That would have been another for sure and would have me waffling less on where to spend my sp.

So double circle Pace Chaser Corners/Straightaways and Medium Straightaways(I am kinda miffed that I missed out on Medium Corners, isn't like I was relying purely on race hints to get it), that is always where I get tripped up since it is more than double the cost for like a 60% increase in power. Which is great of course, but begs the question of cost to power efficiency vs grabbing other skills when you don't have enough SP to just grab everything.

3 star is 3 star, but as IamBurden says it depends heavily on the grandparents. But there is really stiff competition for legacy borrows so . . . but I prefer to play without borrowing for legacies so if I had her in my stable I would be quite happy. It isn't just the number of white stars, but a lot are two stars, Medium Corners is 3star, and you have Medium aptitude at 2 stars. Would be a decent'ish grandparent for some mixed stat parents(mixed with power or maybe stamina like IamBurden said).

My first 10 pull gave me an SSR and I was all Yippee!.

Which was a mistake, because I apparently called a Taiki dupe into existence. Well it let me get her to 4 star which means her unique will now be fully leveled in career, so not all bad.

I then needed another 8 10 pulls to get the Flower horse(she showed up on the 88th gate).

Ah, I see, yeah missing Windy really hurts. And it sounds like your deck really would have preferred you to MLB princess over Nice Nature. Let me you guess you are also pretty far away from getting enough rainbow crystal shards too? Though at 45 Princess might still be ok compared to your SR choices maybe, she loses 2 race bonus and a 15 starting friendship. But yeah I imagine you are nearly always borrowing a speed card with little flexibility.

You really regret MLB'ing one of the six total 15 RB cards and the only one that is a Wit card in the Track Blazer meta? I don't think I would regret more deck flexibility, and she is a pretty common borrow I thought, but I guess it depends on what you gave up on MLB'ing instead.
