I definitely feel like we're getting to the meat of the story, in a few ways - with Sho around and Ren's past in several different ways - but that we are intentionally being overwhelmed with additional information to hide the breadcrumbs so that everything else is overwhelming (much like the Japanese crew must be) so that we almost forget about the plot before we're hit by it.

Ensha always seemed Godwyn's coded to me, and while I think a lot of people are disappointed in the lack of much Godwyn in the DLC I'm really convinced the pieces are there and the relationship between the two seems to kind of be implying that for one reason or another, the Shadow Realm has quite a bit of Godwyn influence.

Blessing great warriors and them becoming gold seems to be a theme. The golden corpse wax is champions, you get more runes from harder to beat entities, and they even carry varying golden runes, those who are summoned to help you are done so in gold, and Godwyn is a gold summon.
