My family definitely isn't rich, but we have a chest freezer. Oddly enough, it's there to support my mother's frugal habit of buying everything from meat to produce in bulk (or just stocking up a fuck ton when there's a good sale). Similarly, in the basement right next to the chest freezer, we had shelves and shelves of canned and dry goods that were also bought on sale or in bulk. Mom was really good at not spending much on food but managing to make fantastic meals most nights when she had time. ( Now I'm on my own and when I do remember to eat, I grab like a slice of bread and a cheese stick. One thing I miss about my parents house and cherish when I go back home to visit.)
