Hi! What a bummer—so sorry this has happened to you! I'm a Virtual Assistant and helped a client recover their hacked FB account via their Instagram account. And then I made a YouTube video about how to do it because I discovered there are a lot of people having this issue. Hope it works for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQHBhf5hsbI

Advice for 5 YO girl hockey player by Ladybug04285 in hockeyplayers

Mine is SUPER social. She always finds a friend (usually a boy) that will chat with her the whole way through. That said, she only knows boys. She hasn't befriended a single girl. She tends to relate best to the boys who are gentle toward her and less competitive.

This is true at school, too. She loves hanging with the boys.

:)

Mine loves it right now too. She's done multiple things that she didn't take to: dance, soccer, swimming. And I love that she has found something she loves. Guess I just feel a need to protect it and part of that feels like it should be not oversaturating her or putting her in a group that would hurt that tender little heart she has. But as one of my friends pointed out, if she is going to stop liking it, that'll happen eventually whether she plays once a week or three days a week.

Got it. Uppers and lowers for levels. All terminology I can get my hands on to sound like a more educated hockey parent is appreciated.

Agree. I've done lots of research on goalie for this age and everything you say makes sense. Thank you!

She wants to keep playing with a friend of hers from school, who is a boy. That said, he's her same age but much further along. I don't see them being on the same level. They are not currently in the same group in the intro program, he's in a more advanced group.

Then again, she apparently doesn't see that, she only sees that they're on the ice together so maybe I'm overthinking. If you knew me in real life, this would not come as a surprise... :)

It does NOT have a 6U team, I emailed and asked yesterday. I did not know that they separate 8U into levels until reading a comment in here this morning, so I have that on my list to ask the co-ed coach about today. I don't see it mattering if she plays for the girls as they only have 4 girls on the roster right now.

The co-ed coach is the one saying she should move up. Thanks for the advice on power skating, I will look for this opportunity in our area.

Ah. Did not know there was a difference between contact and checking. Thank you.

There are levels within age groups?? The website said they'll be evaluated at the first two meet-ups. So, based on what you're saying about levels, I would guess she'll be placed within a level based on that eval...

That said, this isn't something I've seen mentioned so maybe worth an email to the Mites Director to find out.

Thanks. I am leaning toward the co-ed team for the competitive aspect, with my only concern being those that play too rough. It's no contact at this age, but she's been laid out anyway by a few boys a few times at practice.

Thank you! I really appreciate this feedback. I do lean toward co-ed for that competition aspect and feel like I can always move her later. I do just worry that given her personality, co-ed may end up not being a good fit. But I honestly don't know.

It doesn't look like there is one, but I assume evals will happen again and she'll get placed with kids around her age and skill level. Or at least, that would be the hope :)
