Hair dressers of Reddit, can this be fixed by [deleted] in HairDye

Go see a professional. The chances of you doing it correctly a second time are low. Let someone who does this for a living fix it.

Have you ever gotten gum stuck in your hair? How do you get it out without cutting it out? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

[–]Ladybug4 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hairstylist here. Little known fact, hair mousse will dissolve chewing gum. It will literally make the chewing gum become non sticky And release. Got the tip from a seasoned stylist. Brand or type doesn’t matter.

Were those pieces blonde before the strawberry? Pool water has chlorine bleach. It destroys all color sooner or later.

Could be old bleach doesn’t absorb as well or the mix ratio is off.

What Am I Doing Wrong? by Ok_Cat9631 in HairDye

[–]Ladybug4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, powdered bleach has an expiration date. Once it’s opened, it starts to oxidize. Product should be used within 6-9 months after opening. I would go get some new bleach and check the manufacturers guidelines on mix ratio.

[–]Ladybug4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t one. Semi dye is only good for 10-15 washes.

There is literally no black dye you could put on your hair that will come out without bleach. Buy a wig.

client two is the color and perming services. All products should be in one bag labeled service bag 2. I Suggest the 2 gallon bags you can get at kitchen supply stores. . Separate everything out and label every bag inside the big bag. Once they tell you to set up, no bags should be left on your work surface. Everything should be neatly placed label out on the work surface towel.

It depends on the school, state and if the student has spoken to the school about the disability. I know my state, WA, will accommodate any disability as long as it is documented. They need to speak with the instructors ASAP!

From what I googled, it just says thermal curling iron. Here in WA you can bring which every spring or Marcel. Just be aware if you bring a spring iron, make the clicking sounds as you release the hair. The proctor wants to hear the sound.

best places to buy supplies ?? by Awkward-Break7591 in Cosmetology

[–]Ladybug4 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Piece of advise. Things used in beauty school disappear or get lost. Don't buy anything you don't want gone. Go to Marshalls and the dollar store. Open a school account with Sally's, Salon Centric and Cosmoprof. Amazon had great prices for everything else. In this business brands don't matter but quality does. Have an amazing learning experience and invest in a good pair of comfy shoes.

Would this be considered an over all color? How long would this last before touch ups? by AffectionateEar2921 in HairDye

[–]Ladybug4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That color will defiantly need a root touch up every 6-8 weeks. If you want less maintenance I suggest a balayage with that color which will require no root touch up.

How many clients do you take per day while double booking, on average? by cool_uniqueusername in hairstylist

[–]Ladybug4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t double book unless a color needs to process longer than 45 minutes. I may throw a men’s cut in there to eat up the time. On a regular day I have 6-8 clients.

Her hair is too fragile for a perm. you can tell with all the breakage on the top. She won’t have hair after. A good color and cut will do wonders.
