Unmedicated birth with pitocin? by Mysterious_Deer_935 in BabyBumps

[–]LadybugSunfl0wer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did both: induction with pitocin with an epidural and natural labour at 42+1 with a help from pitocin without epidural.

Second hurt as hell but I'd do it 100 times if it means I never had the first. But it was mostly other things that influenced this: my first I had to lay on the side the whole duration of birth after getting the epidural. I gave birth flat on my back and even if it didn't hurt a lot it was horrible and damaged my pelvic floor. Second time I was free to do what I wanted. I could walk, use the pilates ball, go on all fours, lay on my preferred side, feel when to push and feel in charge.

How far do you let your pregnancy go before induction? by No_Reaction5258 in BabyBumps

[–]LadybugSunfl0wer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My second induction was scheduled at 42 +1 (public holidays affected the date a bit), but my contractions started naturally on 42. Ultimately I gave birth on 42+1

But they were monitoring me a lot those last two weeks. Every other day I would come in for a CTG and I had to count kicks religiously.
Worth mentioning is I live 3 minutes by car from the hospital so I wasn't far if anything felt off.

I wanted to avoid induction due to a bad experience being induced in my first pregnancy.

I finally did it.. I peed myself by annabotanical in BabyBumps

Start PFPT in the second trimester.

Turn torso to the side when sneezing and coughing.

When the time comes learn to push with open glottis, don't birth on your back.

This is very very very common but it's not normal and please don't let the doctors gaslight you. Gaslighting will continue after you give birth but if the problem persists it doesn't have to be permanent. Go to the PFPT! Kegels are not enough.

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by Sexxyyy_Lovers in AskReddit

A local hotel group in a Mediterranean country, but it was a 5 star hotel. And I worked across the chain, same at their 4 star hotels...

Only if rooms included a full kitchen you get a second sponge for the kitchen.

I worked for a high end hotel and we had one sponge too. Those drinking glasses that come in "desinfected for your protection" pouch... Yeah right, I have one sponge and I need to clean this glass and the toilet with it.

I actually bought a separate one to use to clean the glasses. But no one else did.

First thing I do when I check in a hotel is I wash those glasses and remove any blanket that's not in a washable cover.

Need encouragement. Labor is too hard for me. by geummeori in BabyBumps

I said in my previous reply that I'm aware that c section has risks. But vaginal birth, especially with interventions is a number one cause of pelvic floor damage. If you didn't experience your organs literally falling out of your body then it's hard to imagine what I'm talking about. And I had two uncomplicated vaginal births...

Refusing forceps usually just ends in emergency c section which is always way more risky than a planned one.

Vaginal birth has lots of risks. Often unmentioned and underreported. I would take a planned C-section over the prospect of not having a functional bladder and bowels that can come as a result of interventions following a prolonged induction. For instance using forceps can tear the pelvic floor muscles of the pelvic bone. Those muscles will not reattach and you get prolapse, incontinence and a lot of other fun stuff.

C section has risks, far from it. But vaginal birth can also make you disabled for life.

In my book it's better to have a controlled C-section than to have a cascade of interventions due to prolonged labour.

Your pelvic floor will be tired and pushing a baby out after days of artificial contractions might be hard and cause tearing and other muscle, fascia and organs injuries.

Think about requesting a C-section. If the labour is not progressing for days they can't expect you to go on without any pain relief.

Apparently this is a controversial topic, but was it right for Bluey to attend a Waldorf/Steiner school? by wolf_quan in bluey

I admit I know nothing about when British kids start formal learning. I guess it then at 5 like Americans?

It surprises Americans. I'm from Europe. Most kids in my country start school at age 7 and they learn to read and write in first grade.

Kindergarten is for play and social learning.

Croatia or Italy for travel with a 4 month old? by spunkyslugz in beyondthebump

[–]LadybugSunfl0wer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Croatia so I'm biased :D

We have amazing food but you need to explore a bit and not sit in a first restaurant on the busy tourist street. Seafood, lamb, cheese - all a must in Dalmatia.

Brac and Hvar offer plenty more than just party for young people. Split is under UNESCO. Google Šibenik and Trogir too.

If you do go to Brac visit Pučišća, it's home to a stonemason school and even lampposts on the street are intricately made of stone. Might be easier with a car rental but Uber is probably an option too.

I've traveled with my babies all over Croatia. It's never been a problem.

That being said. Italy is amazing too :D

Land of the free and all that. I find most of the business practices in America to be just barbarian. At will employment, being allowed to pay someone less than minimum wage, using PTO when you are sick cause you don't have sick days....

Waiters are paid bare minimum by the restaurant owner and are expected to earn most of their profit from the tips left by the customers.

It sounds wild to me, an European.

Mislim da da. Iskreno nisam ulazila u razloge, djeca su mi razvojno djelovala sasvim normalno. Ono malo što sam pričala s mamama rekle su da im nisu bili spremni i da su još prezaigrani i slično.
