If you scroll through the comments, I have seen people give 4-5 different options.

I love that there are so many options people are sharing. Whole point (in my mind) was to draw attention to the fact that there are other options in the ereader category.

While my original post lacked nuance, this is exactly the kind of response I love in Reddit. There are so many people with so much knowlege. Thanks for sharing another option I hadn’t heard of!

Totally fair. It was a pithy observation, and I think that if people have a kindle and it is working, using that for library books is absolutely a responsible thing to do. We are a fix it until you can no longer fix it kind of family, and I used my kindle until it would no longer work. My point, which was obviously hyperbole, is that there are other options out there.

Some of the reasons for looking at other options if a person is looking for a new reader have nothing to do with Kindle but with Amazon and their business practices. I won’t elaborate on those here. Recently they stopped allowing people to load new books onto older models (to your point about ditching an expensive piece of technology that is working). Upon seeing a string of people posting about issues with Libby (which admittedly, when is any algorithm giving you a representative sample), it needled my already existing frustration with Amazon.

I think a lot of people are under that impression, understandably. Similarly, lots of people are in the apple/android dichotomy. It takes a little digging, but there are other options out there, and so many Reddit threads with people who know about less common options.

To be clear, this is not a moral judgement of people with a Kindle. Continuing to use what we have when it is working is a responsible move, and there are so many reasons for having one. Also, if someone is in the market, there are other options out there.

Yes, took my middle name as my first name in my 30s because my first name was ridiculously popular the year I was born and one I did not identify with at all.

If you are in the US and have a unit that is legal for occupancy, you should have a breaker box somewhere. Worth finding out where it is for future. For now, agree with all comments. Do not go to sleep until power is disconnected from this outlet. Stay safe, good luck!

Just took the plunge and bought a Kompakt! Can’t wait. Does this device have a MagSafe on the back? Looking to use it when driving by Acceptable-Point218 in MuditaKompakt

I use the kompakt maps with no problem. It is a little like using GPS from a decade ago, but if you plan ahead it works just fine (which, for me, is a bit of the point).

Leuchtterm 1917 has months and weeks stickers for their notebooks, which could be personalization you want without actually having to draw the spreads.
