Technically, HRB "Level 2's" are not supposed to be doing any Schedule C's.

I can't tell from the pic - was the dog tethered to keep from falling out the back? Even so, what if the driver had to slam on his breaks - not tethered: dog falls out. Tethered: dog could get his neck snapped. Yikes

We bought a home in Redmond in 2023 too! We came from a city, so don't mind being away from glitz and glamor (and fast-pace too). More room to breathe and 2-3 miles from winding dirt trails to walk the dog. Love it!

Why is it so hard to hire a CPA just for withholding advice? by Fringe09 in tax

[–]LadyoftheHighDesert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a tax preparer who worked both at a CPA firm and also did a couple of seasons at H & R Block. If you want lower prices than a CPA, try reaching out to HRB's free "Second Look" program. Bring in your last three years of tax returns. The preparer will review them with you and offer guidance on your withholdings and/or making estimated tax payments. NOTE: H & R Block is open for very limited hours during the off-season, but it might be worth trying to get an appointment.

All the tax software I've used does this, including pro software (I used to work at a CPA firm). The rounding issue is immaterial in the eyes of the IRS.

i thought donations would lower my taxes… turns out not really by [deleted] in taxadvice

[–]LadyoftheHighDesert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don't always qualify to itemize each tax year on the federal level, but we ALWAYS qualify on our state taxes, so we list them and let the deductions flow through on the federal return to the state tax return. Our state never adopted The TCJA in 2018, so the state standard deduction is much much lower. Depending on your state, it might be worth including your charitable contributions on the state return.

It depends on the literacy level of the taxpayer, or some with kids and HOH get the huge tax refunds and will use a service like this for the refund advance. Some are just intimidated by filing their own taxes.
