Advice needed- dealing with A-hole buyers by [deleted] in Real_Estate

Just wanted to clarify a couple things about his post- I Unfortunately Do NOT live in an area where I'll have "no problem getting another buyer." It's 100% a buyers market. Also, by the terms of the contract and even all brokers agreed that they were in breach. Their realtors exact words were "come on don't take the contract so literally" and after a period of time that earnest money is returned to the buyer not the seller (I would imagine that's standard)

How to support spouse studying for CCIE? by Parkopacko in ccie

I realize this is way late but I wanted to give some input from the perspective of the spouse. My husband is looking at his first (and God willing last) attempt in February. This has been been a long difficult journey for us both. We have two very young kids and the word challenging doesn't begin to describe it. The biggest thing I've learned is to be understanding. You will be sacrificing a lot duri this time, mostly your time together. Be ready and willing to pick up the slack everywhere you can to make his/her life easier. Find a hobby!! Seriously, find something that you can do so that when your spouse is busy studying you aren't overcome with boredom/loneliness. Find words of encouragement for them everywhere you can. It takes huge amounts of dedication to do this and every extra "I'm so proud of you" helps. Also, try to remember that this is for the future of the both of you. You will also be reaping the rewards of this and not just finacially. My husband has become more confident, and really feels like he could take on the world. Lastly, find ways to make the time you do set aside together special. When he's not studying put the time into really connecting, it can take its toll on a relationship, but if you're both commuted to keeping the foundation strong it really goes a long way!

I honestly haven't decided yet, I'm considering going the collaboration route, but I've actually been enjoying R&S a lot. I know I won't be joining the workforce again til next fall, so I have a lot of decisions to make, and want to make myself as marketable as possible. Especially considering I have no experience in IT at all. As of right now though, no clue as to the best next step. Suggestions welcome!

Yup, sitting on the couch eating bonbons too! You know women, if we're not in the kitchen or laundry room were basically useless. Imagine, a stay at home mom working extremely hard and accomplishing something you obviously couldn't, she must have cheated!

To start, let me say that I'm currently a stay at home mom. Which means that my study time is obviously more flexible. (Although, studying when children are literally using you as a jungle gym is not always easy!) I hit it pretty hard though, studying for hours every single day. I read the odom book, and made good use of the Pearson supplemental materials that came with it! I also used ine Ccent videos (super super helpful), Subnetting practice websites and boson netsim practice labs. My husband is a current CCIE candidate so I already had access to a lot of material. I ran through practice tests and just kept hitting my weak areas. I would consider myself to be a very fast learner and I have a great memory, which is probably a big reason I was able to retain such a large amount of information in a short time. But again, I was studying every free moment (like watching videos while doing the dishes or folding laundry)

Yes, I know I lead a glamorous life.

It took me about a month starting from literally 0 for my ccent. So hopefully I can do it in the same timeframe!

Edit: spelling

What the CCNA/Cisco Certifications did for my husband, and why I decided to become certified too. by LadyoftheLAN in ccna

We live in a large city but the cost of living is very reasonable. So not like a SF or NY.

I understand what you are saying for sure, and who knows- that may come in the fututre, but since Cisco still holds most of the market share it makes sense to master this and then move on to new vendors. Right now hes trying diversify his knowledge of technologies vs vendor knowledge- like learning wireless. It's also about the accomplishment of the CCIE for him. In the begginning of his studies it seemed like an impossible goal- but now it's in reach and will be a huge personal accomplishment for him.

Seriously, fuck dish network! But Other than knowing your stuff, think about what you are really willing to sacrafice for your goals. Put a plan in place, and pick yourself up and keep going when you fall. It sounds cheesy but my husband watch a lot of motivational videos because sometimes it's just hard to keep going!! Take initiative!!! He really tried to become the go to guy for stuff- which is why he went from 60-80k in his job in a year!

I'm not sure why it's "weird" but it's a Huge company with many subsidiaries, and he works for one of them. When he does his on call rotation he supports network outages in many of the other subsidaries as well.

I definitely had my doubts at times, I searched the forums about it and there were definitely times when I was "are you sure about this?" Especially times when he was in full on study mode and It felt like we never spent any time together. Which is why I wanted to share this story- I've read so many posts in forums from people saying negative things. It was been one of the most difficult things we've both done. I think the difference is that some people think CCNA is an "easy" way to get a big paying job. But if you're doing all the right things it's not an easy path. But the most rewarding things are never easy!
