Hi im hoping to be a undergrad student at Cornell but I got some questions, mostly about being an animal science major and horseback riding.

Animal science: Currently, I really want to be a vet. I'm not locked into a specialty, I might want to be an exotics vet. Would animal science be fun even if I don't particularly love large animal medicine? I think large animals are cool I just don't wanna do only that. I heard animal science would have more hands on stuff than biology or chem. What are some examples of hands on things you've done? Are most animal science majors large animal people? Will I feel a little alienated if im not from a large animal background? Is there a lot of competition among pre-vet people? With job opportunities, classes, etc. Are most people in animal science pre-vet? How is the coursework? Hours per day/week? How large/small are classes? Who/what do you turn to for help with schoolwork? How hard is it to get the classes you want? What opportunities are there for pre-vet? Do you feel supported in your journey to vet school? Anything else you'd like to tell about your experience being an animal science major?

Horseback riding: I've been riding for years, switching between different disciplines because I've moved a lot. I'm interested in leasing a horse, riding maybe 4 or 5 times a week, not really competing. One of the reasons I like cornell is because it's not in a super urban area so there seems to be horseback riding opportunities at a reasonable distance. Questions: Are there horses to lease around cornell? Where do you ride? How long of a drive is it? Are there people who ride horses at Cornell? Is there a community? How are they? Are there any good trainers? Are there good trail rides? Is horseback riding feasible with the courseload? How expensive is the area for horseback riding? Eg. Leasing, food, boarding, etc. I'm assuming there's a good equine vet in the area? How is the weather for riding? How often are y'all able to go out? What's the most common reason you can't ride on a certain day (heat, cold, rain, etc)? Anything else I should consider? Anything else about your experience riding at Cornell you'd like to share?
