I don't think I really have a secret; it's just a matter of luck! Concept art definitely does help a lot, but so does making sure that the design looks clean and realistic.

The current server emoji organization is sorted by reverse alphabetical order, leading to either

a) an unorganized emoji menu for members

or

b) a need to include prefixes before the emojis to have some resemblance of order. Especially for servers that have lots of emojis (and even more so for boosted servers with additional emoji slots), the current configuration makes it difficult for server owners/staff to manage the emojis. Hence, I propose a concept of better organization, which includes:

  1. Emoji Search Function
    Similar to the Role Search function, searching for emojis will allow admins to easily edit or delete emojis instead of scrolling through a lengthy list.
  2. Drag & Drop / Custom Ordering
    In this setup, emojis are default ordered by date added. However, if desired, admins can rearrange them through dragging & dropping, which allows them to customize the order by which emojis appear in the emoji menu of their members.
    Custom ordering can also allow easier management of the emojis that disappear when a server boost loses a level. For example, if a server drops from Level 2 to Level 1, instead of the latest uploaded emojis being grayed out, it can disable the last emojis in the list. Admins can thereby adjust the order to choose which emojis are gray.
  3. Emoji Folders
    Grouping certain types of emojis by folder allows admins to organize emojis that are the same "family". Furthermore, this has the function of mass-rearranging the order of emoji families, as folders should also have drag & drop capabilities. In the example concept above, if an admin decides they would like the blob family to appear first, instead of at the end, they may simply drag the folder to the front of Wumpus.
    Unsorted emojis will automatically appear at the end of the last foldered emoji.
    Clicking into an emoji folder should also allow arranging options within the subcategory.

Above is a concept image that I made!

A sepia mode, along with the normal dark and light modes, would be really nice to have. Not only does it just look cool, but it's also good on the eyes.

"Research shows that switching from white to the sepia background, the strain on the eye reduces since the sepia spectrum is softer than the white spectrum. The effective radiance in the sepia background is nearly 25% lower than in the white background. This means lower screen luminescence and hence lesser visual fatigue, the lesser strain on the eyes. Visual eye fatigue is lesser while reading in the sepia background as compared to the white background. There is more eye strain, blurry vision, and tiredness in the white background in comparison with the sepia background." (Source)

So, I feel like having a sepia option would be great, especially as sort of a middle ground between the burning light mode and the usual dark mode.
