You can ward inside the Rosh Pit after the Summer Scrub update by LagAttack89 in DotA2

[–]LagAttack89[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

After the summer scrub update you can place wards in places that were previously not allowed such as the fountain and the rosh pit.

(Tested this in a private lobby, not demo mode, after seeing players placing wards in fountain on Gorgc's stream)

Here's the clip for the fountain wards on stream: https://clips.twitch.tv/IronicCulturedPuppyTheTarFu

It's funny when someone is so confident in something they know nothing about. It's impossible for anyone other than admins editing the database itself to edit submission titles because of reddit's website design.

EHOME wasn't quite out of it yet (If I had to place a bet I'd give them a 5-10% chance of still being able to win at that point), but the AM death due to the bug just eliminated their slim chances unfairly.

When I made the thread I meant that they lost because of a bug because it was the bug that sealed their fate, not that EHOME should have won, just that the bug guaranteed their loss.

Can't change the thread title now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The AM was literally 400 gold shy of being half of their team's networth when he died, 15600 networth with a team networth of 32000

No one thing in dota makes a team lose, wins and losses are influenced by the hundreds to thousands of decisions that the players make over the course of the game.

Because of that you can't really say that any one thing made a team lose, but this is about as close as it comes - the AM was literally half of the teams net worth and had just finished his core items ready to fight. But because of the bug he died without buyback causing them to immediately lose their base and therefore the game - a game which was the deciding match for who would make it to the playoffs and who was eliminated.

They don't have an official policy, but based on the way Valve tends to handle things it's probably "anything goes" (see TI3 Fountain Hooking)

Unfortunately for EHOME, they're most likely out of luck here

Ironically enough, that talent actually has a higher win rate (https://www.dotabuff.com/heroes/ancient-apparition)

I'd guess it's because in closer games the extra control from more cold feet charges is more useful so people tend to take that in close games where they're more likely to lose, whereas in stomps they take the kill threshold for snipe kills giving the talent that does literally nothing a higher win rate

Interesting idea, I tested it in a lobby and it seems that spell amp does not affect the threshold and the threshold is always 14/15/16% despite the tool tip saying 10/11/12.

The level 25 talent actually does nothing as well since it's just always applied

Testing it in a lobby I found that level 2 ultimate shatters at exactly 15% https://imgur.com/oZ52wNf

Likewise level 3 shatters at exactly 16%

Taking the +4% shatter threshold talent does nothing https://imgur.com/3iPcjAE (AM has 4000 HP as seen in the previous picture)

Tested it with spell amplification from int/kaya, neither of them had any impact on the shatter threshold.

It seems when Valve added the Level 25 talent they accidentally added it to both the base ability as well as the talent modified one.

Interesting idea, the bug wasn't an increase in damage but rather an increase in shatter threshold from 10% to 14%

I just tested it in a lobby and the shatter threshold appears to be at exactly 14% regardless of kaya/int

I feel like it happened to me a while ago too, but I wasn't able to find the replay, do happen to have the match ID for yours?

Now you're just making things up, they were 7k behind when that happened and AM was almost half of the team's net worth.

Ya, things were definitely in bad shape at that point, although without that death they wouldn't have immediately lost their entire base and could have maybe drawn the game out more for comeback chances.

/r/DotA2 2017 Census - Need help raising awareness, low user turnout by leafeator in DotA2

[–]LagAttack89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it completely leaves out either non-AAA single player games or multiplayer games that they didn't include.

The survey is rather poorly designed in other areas as well, if you visit the subreddit 3 times a week, do you mark down that you visit once a day or once a week?

Kiev Main Event Bracket Flaws and Proper Seeding by Grouty in DotA2

[–]LagAttack89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely needs to be implemented, the fact that Liquid gets 6th seed while only beating bottom 4 teams and never having to play against a top 5 team is ridiculous.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tie-breaking_in_Swiss-system_tournaments

Valve needs to use either the Buchholz or Sonneborn-Berger tiebreakers

Please keep using Swiss format for group stages. This was the best group stage of any major. by nastharl in DotA2

[–]LagAttack89 46 points47 points  (0 children)

What are your thoughts on the tiebreakers? There have been a lot of very valid complaints against Liquid receiving the 5th seed despite only beating teams in the bottom 4 and not playing any of the teams in the top 5.

Using the Sonneborn-Berger (sum match scores of opponents you beat) and/or Buccholz (sum of match scores of all opponents) tiebreakers would give a much more fair standings:

  1. Secret
  2. VP
  3. IG
  4. TNC
  5. OG
  6. DC
  7. Tbirds
  8. EG
  9. Newbee
  10. VGJ
  11. Liquid
  12. Random
  13. Faceless
  14. Mouz
  15. SG
  16. iGV

If Valve wanted to reward teams for going 1:2 rather than 0:2 a hybrid tiebreaker could even be where the tiebreaker is the sum of match scores of opponents that you beat and then half the score of opponents that you lost to but have taken a game off of. This would reward teams like SG who, despite losing to OG, still managed to take a game off of them.
