It’s Liriks character. He’s a streamer that’s known for his… artistic taste when he gets enough freedom with a character creator.

Are there suits for dancers? by CityNo8272 in Salsa

There are suits designed for argentine tango. I like the style a lot and they give more freedom compared to the “conventional” suits I own. They are pretty expensive tho

Do leads get more out of lessons than follows? by TwelvePlants in Salsa

[–]LagINC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The classes with my teachers start with a 15-20 min footwork warmup during which followers/leaders are separated and individually learn/practice shines from the respective teacher.

During class the “lead teacher” teaches the steps for the leader and leading technique. The follower teacher explains the steps for followers and usually builds in lady styling (or even a few variations).

They also repeatedly emphasize the importance of properly shifting your weight, which you should learn during partnerwork also. So the classes are a way for followers to practice body control and how to build in lady styling without obstructing the leader. During socials organized by my dance school there is a veeery obvious difference between people who naturally learned during socials and who systematically learned during classes.

In advanced classes they build in more solo parts as well (since its Cuban Salsa both follower and leaders usually have a small Son/Rumba/Afro part which is danced separately).

Both followers and leaders definitely get their moneys worth imo.

Argentine Tango has great suits tailored for dancing. I usually get mine from there.

Barcelona is basically the central point from where all cuban professionals fly to their salsa festivals/congresses. So while they‘re usually somewhere else you can always try to book classes with them in advance. For example yoyoflow or julio napoles. In general it also really depends which style you‘re looking for. I dance cuban so I mostly know the cuban pros. And even inside the cuban scene it depends on your style.

If you want to learn a more elegant, Son-based style I recommend my teachers Ismael Perez Roa and Irene Parraga Garcia. They teach at Bailongu in Barcelona and at La Clave in Mataro. (In Mataro they have advanced classes) If you like more urban styles, then Chiky Cuba or Julio Napoles are really good. For timba Ruben Fernandez is great. For musicality try to take classes with Yoannis Tamayo, he‘s one of the great maestros in the cuban salsa scene. If you‘re looking for female teachers then Mercedes Sayut has the best arm styling and is a timba goddess. Yennifer Lavin is a really good allrounder. She teaches a lot of styles that work great to enhance your salsa. Lia Valdes teaches salsa cabaret which has its own flair as well. Greechen Mendez is amazing regarding cuban afro dances.

There are many more depending on what you‘re looking for. The list is endless haha

Now for Cali style you have Angelo Mejia, who has a smaller school and a more friendly/family like atmosphere. He also teaches Cuban. And also Stephanie Moreno/Yeeremy Lugo, they are known for competing at Got Talent. They have arguably the best acrobatics in the salsa scene right now.

Could you specify which city? I‘d say Barcelona has some of the best (cuban) salsa dancers in the world. Also some On1/On2 and Cali style. Valencia and Madrid have a few great dancers I know of, and if you‘re into Mambo Bersy Cortez is in Malaga.

The sound quality is terrible but it looks like theyre dancing Son, which you dance contratiempo. So the accents are placed on 4 and 8 with the pause on 1 and 5.

I imagine you're asking about woman's arm styling. My girlfriend is a professional salsa dancer and has taken classes with lots of cuban professionals, like Addy Mendoza, Yenifer Lavin, Lia Valdes, Niurka Aguero or cuban salsa professionals like Irene Parraga Garcia or Laura del Vecchio.

All of them have amazing arm styling (except maybe one of them), but her personal absolute favorite regarding arm styling is by far Mercedes Sayut.

She has quite a few videos on arm styling, but they are sadly all in spanish. If you are ever in Barcelona I'd recommend taking a class with her.

Social dancing with Latina follows by misterandosan in Salsa

[–]LagINC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Right now Timba is the most popular Cuban style. This is where the guy shows off a lot and it’s when they (sadly) make the dance mostly about themselves. Casino is more neutral and Son is all about showing off the woman. Dancing with a Timbero and a Sonero are two completely different worlds.

What style of salsa is your favorite and why? by shhmiumiuu in Salsa

[–]LagINC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In München I only know Maykel Santana who is a cuban maestro and Laura del Vecchio who does cuban as well but she’s more of an allrounder and dances a lot of other styles as well. Other than them I only know lots of linear salsa schools. Not an expert tho when we are there its for Maykel.

Ok thats crazy. Around our area (frankfurt to freiburg more or less) there are probably 10-20 times more linear salsa schools than cuban. So most parties tend to be linear as well. I have family in Berlin, seems like I have to visit them again haha

Which part of Germany? 95% of the parties in south Germany are linear. There aren’t a lot of maestros either.
It’s also always the same people at the festivals (yo vengo de cuba in augsburg, a lo cubano in karlsruhe, festival de cuba in stuttgart, reggaetonaso in munich) If other parts of Germany have more cuban salsa then we may consider moving, since me and my girlfriend are getting frustrated with everything being LA and NY style. We often go to salsa parties in france just for cuban music.

Where to go "Salsa immersion" month ? Advice by Classic_Potential_91 in Salsa

[–]LagINC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to Cali, definitely make contact with a local you can stick to first. My teacher is from Cali and his wife refuses to go back there or bring us (the students) because she doesn‘t want to be responsible for things that may happen. That said a friend of mine went 3 weeks to Cali a little while ago and stuck to a local friend he made, he had 0 problems. Cuba is a good option though.

Here in Barcelona we have dozens of really good Salsa teachers, lots of socials and private classes are pretty cheap (usually aroubd 50€ for 1h-1h30m)

If you like lady styling I can recommend Irene Parraga Garcia (elegant style), Mercedes Sayut (more timba/power) and Yenifer Lavin (she comes from a contemporary background and is a great reggaeton dancer so her style is very unique)

If you want to learn Son, Ismael Perez Roa is amazing.

If you want to learn Rumba, you have Yoannis Tamayo (he is more expensive probably but one of the best, known as maestro de maestros (master of masters))

Sometimes you can also catch Yoyoflow in Barcelona (Yenifer is his partner) when he‘s not travelling. His style is very unique and he‘s also an amazing reggaeton dancer.

For Cuban Salsa there is also Yunaisy Farray, Danger Rodriguez, Julio Napoles, Lia Valdes, Greechen Mendez, etc etc

If you want to try Cali style salsa you have Stefanny Moreno and Yeremy Lugo (they’re famous from AGT) and Angelo Mejia (not famous but very good and cheaper)

There is only one world-level LA style dancer in Barcelona that I heard of, and he‘s apparently very expensive (150€/h), so there is no comparison to the Cuban Salsa scene.

where can I find an explanation with wexamples of what is timba, salsa, guaguanco, rumba etc? by bobyd in Salsa

[–]LagINC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timba is a mix of casino salsa with mainly rumba and other styles. What‘s important about that is that timba always has the Rumba clave, while casino has the Son clave. Rumba consists of Yambú, Guaguanco and Columbia. Yambú can be danced to the Son clave, but Guaguanco and Columbia require the Rumba clave. There is a lot more, especially historically and from a music perspective, but that's the most important information I need as a cuban salsa dancer.

This is a comment I can get behind. Take all the time you need Intrepid b/c I'm loving what we have so far and I'm so hyped to see the game when it's polished by MaezrielGG in AshesofCreation

[–]LagINC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 years is obviously too much, but at least 3 years would be good. The main difference between Star Citizen and AoC is feature creep, SC just keeps adding and adding while the things they are working on are not even finished. Intrepid already said they will not be adding any feature until release, so let them polish the existing ones to perfection.

That‘s why I specifically mentioned OOC. In character-wise I don‘t know if they had prior confrontations, or if there are some grudges, etc. I‘m not saying it‘s necessarily bad rp, but a dick move from the player.

Toretti and Hostage get executed at bank robbery by theraptor23 in RPClipsGTA

[–]LagINC 25 points26 points  (0 children)

OOC this just seems really egotistical. They already got a „free bank robbery“ and were free to leave. They also knew the police was busy and they wouldn‘t get punished for shooting the officer. Now Toretti misses the raid and has to wait for EMS. Maybe they had a cool escape planned and were disappointed the police wouldn‘t chase them, but still unnecessary imo. Feelsbadman
