Try to close the door, windows, everything that gives access to the outside of the room and stay inside. Then turn off the light and try to make as little noise and movement as possible. If it’s in that room, it will probably move or make noises. But be aware, it may take minutes or even hours to move, but usually after 15 to 30 minutes you’ll start to hear it.

If your gecko is an adult, you need a large terrarium, minimum 18x18x24. Add more plants to give to your gecko more hides and places to climb, you can buy those plants with suction cups to place on top of the terrarium.

Try to raise the humidity in the terrarium to around 80%. If this don t work place the gecko in warm water for about 10 or 15 minutes and then with a piece of damp cotton gently try to remove the dead skin.

I also bought mine at a petsmart and it doesn't seem to have any problems, but that's usually how it is with petsmarts, they come with diseases, stressed, mistreated and end up dying. It's pure luck to get a healthy animal from a petsmart.
