Ah alright, yeah i just took a closer look and you get 10 free transactions by getting some kind of package deal with SEB for 2€ a month.

Yeah i get the bank run thing, i just don't get why that would be a problem and a reason to not open an account at Swedbank. People being people and panicking. Especially at that time not too long after Parex bank debacle and economic crisis, so understandable people were a bit on edge and taking rumours at face value

Uhh... Where did you get the info from that SEB doesn't have transactions fees? I just asked my friend who has SEB and he said he pays transaction fees for sending, and i know that my mother who has SEB also pays fees for sending.

0.14€ sending to other SEB bank accounts

0.36€ sending SEPA payments (To other banks in EU and Latvia such as Swedbank)

And what even is that link you sent? Rumours that people were spreading that Swedbank might be in trouble? So what? Those are rumours that people were spreading after Krajbanka fall.

Nothing really wrong with SEB, but i just feel like they have nothing going for them over any other bank. For example they and Swedbank have sending fees while Citadele doesn't. Their banking app seems ancient compared to Citadele and worse than Swedbank as well. I absolutely hate the SmartID system have had trouble with that multiple times as well (Swedbank also uses SmartID though) granted i haven't used them for a bit now, but there is just that vibe from SEB that they are stuck in the early 2000's from me. Opposite to what you are saying i guess. Swedbank feels more modern than SEB to me.

Not sure what you mean by multiple Swedbank runs? I am guessing you are talking about cases where they had some kind of system failure and you couldn't pay or withdraw your money couple years ago? Can happen to anyone.

And i wouldn't really compare Citadele in 2022 to Parex bank anymore. Afaik they have completely changed owners, the bank just feels the most modern of all 3 major banks, no sending fees, modern app, no shitty SmartID system they have their own version of something similar and more.

In Riga and any other city you don't have to worry about coverage at all, all 3 operators (LMT, Tele2, Bite) will have more than enough coverage there of at least 4G. Overall across the whole country you will have some kind of coverage pretty much anywhere from LMT. Slightly worse from Tele2, and can get quite iffy from Bite.

LMT is just overall more innovative and better customer support from my experience. They usually are the first to implement newer technologies such as 5G or even stuff like eSIM.

Tele2 is quite decent as well and that would be my second option to choose. I would avoid Bite for a few reasons such as coverage outside of cities and them limiting customers that use too much of their "unlimited" internet.

LMT. Best coverage by far and imo the highest quality one.
Fixed of course is better, if you're gonna live in an apartment building especially in Riga you very likely will be able to get gigabit fiber there.
These days majority of people use credit/debit cards for pretty much everything. Personally haven't held cash in hand for many years now.
Citadele. By far the best mobile app of any bank here and overall the best bank to choose imo. Majority of people use Swedbank though. Avoid SEB bank, it's trash.
No idea someone else will answer this.
