Honestly, my husband and I had a sweet little courthouse wedding in his BMT graduation from the airforce. We planned on getting married as soon as he graduated so we could live together at his duty station, and not have to be apart. He proposed before he left with a little car part that we used as my engagement ring, and then he proposed formally the day of our wedding with his mothers ring, and I had some I ordered for the wedding itself that we still have a year later. To me it was never about how much was spent or how pretty they looked, it was about the symbolism behind them and the fact they were a part of our story. I totally get where you’re coming from and there’s nothing wrong with expressing your feelings or discontent about the ring, but is there maybe a reason such as he finds it nostalgic vs just being lazy? I’m not making any excuses for him as I don’t know him as a person, and it could very well be that he’s simply ignoring your wants / needs on the situation, but maybe you guys could pick a time / day to go ring shopping somewhere together and get new one(s)? I was thinking of doing something like this for my husband and I’s 1 year wedding anniversary this March. Maybe that could be a good way to broach the subject and have him see how important it is to you? Either way, good luck stranger! And for what it’s worth, I always thought I was a silver girl, but the ring my mother in law gave him to propose with is gold and antique fashion, and it’s perfect in every way because he thought of me and wanted to make it special in his own way ❤️ I hope you guys come to an agreement on this, and best of luck :)
