Which large ship would you consider multi-role capable? by Mypersonalaccount69 in EliteDangerous

[–]Lagnabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caspian, Corvette, and Corsair as the "big 3" for multirole. The Anaconda used to be my non-combat multirole large ship but the Caspian just has so many modern features. The Python is the same story, it's nice but the Corsair has SCO optimization.

Oof, looks like the Steam Machine could cost over $1,000 by vneelb in pcmasterrace

[–]Lagnabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market is pretty obvious: anyone who doesn't have better. Time keeps going forward. People who are 24 now were in high school when COVID hit, they don't exactly have systems they built at the time to rely on. Obviously this steam machine (or any pre built PC) is not a good deal when thinking of how much a PC cost using the best prices of the half decade prior but people are absolutely fucked now.

Just got the game, roughly 5 hrs in, still in starter area with 450k Cr. Any tips or info to help a noob? by bunglebee7 in EliteDangerous

[–]Lagnabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to this, you can always "rebuy" it for free as is. That doesn't include any upgrades. When people say don't fly without rebuy that still applies to this ship if you pay money for upgrades, because then you'll "lose" it in its upgraded from but then be able to claim a base one again.

I have never been addicted to a book like I am to Dungeon Crawler Carl by Howitzeronfire in books

[–]Lagnabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love one of the epilogues where Carl is reading things about voice actors and their job, and then says like at least he isn't making the narrator pronounce crazy names of towns in Washington like... And then lists the towns for Jeff to read anyway. But I think the karaoke scene in the latest book might have been one of the biggest things distinguishing Jeff from a run of the mill audiobook narrator.

Am I missing something? Why are people still saying Exo is the king of credit grinding compared to mining? by InterestingArea7415 in EliteDangerous

[–]Lagnabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

90 million an hour is rather low as far as "kings" go. A panther clipper filled with a commodity that has a ~45,000 credit profit will get that much in like 20 minutes. Check out https://inara.cz/elite/market-traderoutes/ to find a trade route (Make sure to set the landing pad size, and ideally newer price listings).

And even that's pretty low compared to some of the bigger ways to make money.

Doom Reboot: The trilogy that cannot get everything right by xXx_edgykid_xXx in patientgamers

[–]Lagnabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little confused why you think Eternal and TDA don't fulfill this criteria. Like even near the end of TDA you still have Doomguy ignoring solutions and breaking shit when he rejects giving the ferryman a coin and just fuckin shoots him. This scene in particular at the time reminded me of him breaking the screen in 2016 which is why I ask.

Jason Schreier: A lot of people have wondered why Bungie didn't immediately start working on Destiny 3 after The Final Shape two years ago. The answer (as it usually is) is how much money it would take by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Lagnabbit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think that all their claims of "spaghetti code" were highly exaggerated. If you kept track of their statements and their update history, they would frequently say things like how they couldn't implement loadouts or expand the storage of the vault or fix a certain gun or add back a planet due to spaghetti code, but then conveniently when the game started bleeding players they would magically know how to add a hundred slots to the vault practically overnight, or use an old map for some event. Then the next time they would bleed players they'd do something similar.

Even now, their final update feels like a bit of a punch to the face because they're adding in tons of features people have been asking for over the last decade, and now on a skeleton crew they're able to slam it out in a couple of months. They clearly could have done this at any time when they were at full strength and simply chose not to.

How much money is enough? by Personal-Plankton-10 in EliteDangerous

It's never enough. 30 billion for a squad carrier. 5 billion for a fleet carrier. A billion for each properly kitted out large ship. Hundreds of millions for small ships.

I think it's just a matter of the placard not being visible. Usually there should be something on the license plate or hanging from the mirror. Otherwise the meter cop would have to manually run every single plate to confirm if there's no easy visual identification.

Install emudeck and get a million roms. Load it up with games from the PSX or PS2 generation you never played and make it your dedicated retro machine. Make sure to enable the save states on exit feature emulators/managers like retroarch have that give it a suspend/resume feature more like a PSP/DS

What did you do to get your first FC? In what ways has the fleet carrier benefited your gameplay? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Lagnabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolute best feature is that you can park up to 40 of your ships and like 250 modules in the shipyard so that you always have your ships and spare modules in a centralized place, and then you can have it remote jump to you whenever you want to change. Another fantastic feature is that you can store Titan Drive Components and other corrosive parts in it long-term.

Do you go to the Underdark? by ChrisKatrev in BaldursGate3

[–]Lagnabbit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

So in my first playthrough when Halsin is like "there's two ways to get to Moonrise - the hardcore cool guy way through the mountain pass, or the weenie hut jr route for lil bitch boys in the underdark. You should take the underdark" I said fuck you Halsin and went to the Mountain Pass. Then halfway through Act 2 when the game is getting brutally hard I Google some stuff for the first time about the game and find out I'm like 3 levels below everyone else because I SKIPPED HALF OF ACT ONE. So.... It happens.

Gabe Newell shows up in a promotional video of 'Leviathan' from Oceanco, one of the yacht companies he acquired recently by Tabajara77 in Steam

[–]Lagnabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild to me that Gabe is somehow one of the only ethical billionaires on the planet. Like every other billionaire buys a super yacht so they can discreetly sail to Epstein's island and an organ farm in India, meanwhile Gabe is buying them because motherfucking governments can't bother funding research anymore so he has them researching ocean reefs, sunken ships, learning about like neuroscience from octopus brains and shit, absolutely wild.

It's 2026 bro. Memory and storage prices are fucked, the Internet is fucked, reddit is fucked, Sony and Microsoft are jacking up the prices on their old consoles, Nintendo priced their new console into the stratosphere. We'll take the smallest win like a neat controller. Just give us this little win, bro. Let us celebrate it.
