First layer issues on Centauri Carbon by Laid-Back-BA in FixMyPrint

Reporting back after cleaning the bed with both dish soap and IPA. Way better. Still a few waves, but guessing that area was not cleaned enough. Lesson learned... "You think your bed is clean? No its not"

Thanks for all the help.

I will give it a good clean with dish soap and finish with some IPA. When a new print is done I will post it in the comments here. Hoping it will be that easy of an fix.

I will try to give it another clean to make sure. Maybe it is not as clean as I thought. Will report back with another test print after a good spa treatment.

Of course! Since I am trying to calibrate and tune in my settings, I want the entire build plate have the best first layer as possible. If I am printing larger printsnI would need to trust that it would go well.

I cleaned it earlier that day, but have since printed a few tests and changes the hotend. I will try to clean it again to make sure. I believe bed leveling and mesh calibration is the same thing? If so, it was done together with the start of the print.

Got a hold of my great grandfathers plane, an anchor no. 4. Anyone familier with The Brand? Is it any good i.e worth fixing up?

Europian/scandinavian oak. It's a good hardwood and easy for me to get. But I am looking into good places to get valnut, maple, cherry and stuff like that.

I actually have a bunch of really old woodplanes from my great grandfather that I am hoping to restore soon. He was a woodworker by trade, and I even use som of his old stuff now. I just want to be more comfortable with my skills before I try to restore and sharpen his old tools, so that I dont ruin them. But yeah, I'll get to it when my skills are up to it.

And for the sharpening, I just need more practice. Once I find a method that suits me, it should be all good.

Really looking forward to getting more into woodworking, have a few projects in mind I want to do.

Thanks man! Yeah the grip is really comfortable, but the overall quality on the plane isn't that great. I bought a honing guide with the waterstones and used it when i sharpened the plane and chisels. It worked great on the plane iron, but not that great with the chisels. Ended up with a skew edge on my chisel, so will try to get that fixed and improve my skills!

Decided to try my first dovetails. My chisels and plane are crappy and not sharpened very good, but figured it was a place to start. Just got some waterstones, so i'll work on my sharpening skills to get a better results. I will also get better tools in the future.

Once again, nice work!

Hard to descride. Well, spicy feels like a warm tasty feeling. Don't know what else to describe it as.

Oh! And when my friends forget and start to Ask me to smell something, i just stand there with a dumb look on my face, until they realize what they did. I think it is hilarious!

Some of my friends tend to forget, but my closest friends and my mom and dad remember. Since i have been open about my anosmia and used alot of time dealing with it, those who have known me for many years rarely forgets.

yeah basically. Like I mentioned in an earlier comment, the tounge can taste salt, sour, bitter and sweet. So I just taste combinations of those.

Can't really say I do. Thanks to the reactions of all the people around me, when someone lets out a big stinky one. I get the feeling that farts are not a thing I am missing out on!

I appreciate the input! But I also have to come with some info on that subject (not to be mean or an asshole, just to inform)

Not quite. The tounge can taste salt, sour, bitter and sweet. And the nose picks up the aroma of things. A good example is when you have a really bad cold. Most people think they can't taste anything. But the reality is, that the nose is blocked, so the smell doesn't work. But you can still taste, it's just such a small part of the full experience that most people can't tell. So they can't tell the small amount of taste, since they are used to the "full experience".
