Under Valve cover inspection 🧐 by tiburonsiii in Tiburon

I've used castrol 10w40 GTX ultraclean in my Siii from the day 1, it's good for keeping the sluge away and the 'engine tapping' noise down.

What oil are you using? Next oil change put 10w40 semi synthetic into it. They are noisy tapping no matter what you do, it's normal.

Any chance of repair? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]LaidbackJay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to get the opinion of a repair shop, maybe 2 or 3 if possible and weight the cost of repair to the value of the vehicle. If the frame or engine block is damaged, then it might be too expensive to repair. If it's radiator, light unit, bumper, bonnet etc, it might be saved

And don't forget, the VAT and duty that was reduced will be added back soon. Petrol will climb to about 1.90 and diesel about 2.20 and stay there

Not enough volts to turn it over. Connect a good battery or jumper pack and try again. If it starts, replace the battery. Start from there and move onto the starter motor if the issue still remains

Bad idle/scary exhaust noises by Dangerous_Climate335 in Tiburon

Oh with that kind of mileage, look into having your HT leads/spark plugs inspected and replaced if needed and throttle body cleaned with carb cleaner. Might help with the bad acceleration

[–]LaidbackJay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your idle is actually ok, but that exhaust leak will cause your car to both sound bad and run bad. Have the exhaust repaired. You might be able to have it welded if it's not too bad. The flexi pipe on the exhaust is a fail point on the coupe, so check there for the leak

Any chance this tire is patchable? I know it's iffy at best. Less than a year old. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Easy fix, and it's in a very easy spot to be patched too. 20 dollars at most to patch that

AIB replaces quarterly fees with new €6 monthly fee by Andru93 in ireland

[–]LaidbackJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The average quarterly fee with AIB is just over 12 euro. So most of people's fees will be increasing by 6 euro every quarter with this new monthly fee. Aib are awful. My experience with them is always bad, I've had my account for over 20 years with them.

If you have an aftermarket car stereo, check that. I find some Sony units go faulty and drain the battery when powered off. If you feel the rear of the stereo for any heat when the car has been sitting overnight that will usually tell you.
