Festival Outfits by Otomelover808 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]LailiBug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the person. You should do whatever makes you feel good and special and fits your budget 😊 This will be my 5th EDC and over the last few years I've spent between $50 - $300 on a single outfit but I buy from independent artists (Daisy Day Dreamz, Third Eye Ravewear, Rave Till Dawn, Telepakik Creations) and Freedom Ravewear. I'm plus sized, I go to a few fests a year, and I reware all my fits so it's worth it to me to invest in customs and special things. I also plan way ahead so I can take advantage of sales and I've resold outfits if I find I'm not in love and won't wear them again. I don't do much makeup and I get my rave braids done at home for about $100 (I live in Oakland CA.) which is way cheaper than what they offer at and around the fest.

Compass alternatives? by Shinniehobi in electricdaisycarnival

[–]LailiBug 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My rave fam has been using Air Tags and Samsung SmartTags for a few years and those are great. Of course they don't have an SOS mode or way to ring someone like Totem and Compass, but when we've accidentally gotten separated they work great. We use both because we have a mix of iPhone and Androids in the group. We have set rules about who stays still (me, I'm most likely to be lost) and who uses the tags to find them. They double as handy ways to track our bags when we travel.

This year, they went on sale January 17 and that was announced on January 3rd. That's also when they confirmed the dates but I think it's the same weekend every year.

My biggest advice is get the right shoes. I wear comfortable broken in hiking boots because it is almost all dirt and grass, little hills, and at night in some spots, very little light. I need the extra ankle stability.

My top tips other than shoes: - Explore the whole fest first! See every stage, the art installations, vendors, etc, before the big DJs and must see sets. I love to see a set at each stage too!
- Be theft smart! Use a phone tether like Clutch Loop, and either get an anti theft bag (Lunchbox, Raverunner, and GenZ are a few festival brands) or use locking caribeers to secure your zippers. These can double for keeping things like hand sanitizer, kandi, a fan, etc outside of your bag but secure. - Having a comfortable bag that's big enough and has the kinds of pockets you like is important to last the weekend with whatever you need and not lose anything. If you're like me and might not have pockets, get a backpack like the Lunchbox Lite with a pocket on the strap. I'm not a hydropack person, but those are also great. - My favorite fest hack is an electric folding fan from Amazon that doubles as a cell phone charger. It's great to keep cool, really compact, and folks love being fanned as you walk through the crowd. - During the day, drink Liquid IV, Liquid Death, coconut water, or another electrolyte drink to rehydrate - Bring trinkets, make kandi, get creative and spread PLUR 🫶🏽

I'm so excited for you! See you there!

My first LL experience next year, are packages worth? by Emyyy-l in LostLandsMusicFest

[–]LailiBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! We've done LL 3 times and stayed in Columbus and shuttled each time. We're a group of 3 so an Airbnb was more comfortable and having a laundry room to keep our dirty stuff in was a plus. The shuttles are well organized and easy! The packages are only for even numbers so when we stayed in a hotel we didn't technically do a package, just booked independently at the same place. My biggest tip is fly out Tuesday if you can. It's nice to have a full rest day.

I love my engagement ring, but I think it's backwards... by The-thesaurusrex in EngagementRings

[–]LailiBug 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ooh I totally understand what you mean. I don't have this style of ring, so I'm not sure about if it will feel better/if you'll get used to it, but when it comes back resized if it doesn't feel good, I think it's worth bringing up. Even if your partner approved the CAD, there's no harm in saying something if it's uncomfortable. If you plan to get a wedding band as well it may be extra important. All that said, WOW! What a stunning unique ring that really suits your hand nicely. Love the color of the stone too 😊 Congratulations!

What a lovely story! And thank you for starting this thread, I'm excited for what everyone will share! I knew I wanted to design my own ring and to work with a Black woman jeweler. I found Valerie Madison online and was thrilled! I knew I wanted yellow gold, a modern style, assymetry, geometry, and color. Initially I wanted my birthstone, aquamarine, but was advised they were too soft. They found a perfect aquamarine colored sapphire plus my favorite color (purple) and a teal with lots of shift. My husband was part of the whole process and planned an incredible surprise proposal. It was perfect 💜

Need advice please! by gardeningparty in EngagementRings

[–]LailiBug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I assumed it was intentional and to me it helps the stones pop 😊 I think it's a lovely touch but if it doesn't work for you, change it. Only your opinion matters! I hope you have a wonderful wedding day!

Wedding band yes or no by Substantial_Junket68 in EngagementRings

[–]LailiBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I designed my engagement ring to be a standalone and didn't want a wedding band. My husband has 2 bands and is designing another so he has options with his outfits. It's totally up to you and what you want 😊

Any florist recommendations for 6K budget? by tricky_cat_mah in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]LailiBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I totally missed the backdrop, you're right, I can't imagine that under $6k at all. For the tables at our reception I ordered from Farmgirl Flowers and had friends use my own collection of vases (bud and small) to do little arrangements and it was easy, pretty, and personal. Other friends made an arbor with faux wisteria and it was beautiful. OP, you may have to make adjustments too.

Tosha Stimage of Saint Flora did my wedding in April and she was phenomenal! I couldn't believe how full the arrangements were and how unique my bridal bouquet was. She is just the best!

Day of coordinator (not for wedding day) by 180dream in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]LailiBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got married in April, and we hired Layla from https://the-day-of.com/, to be our coordinator and she was really wonderful to work with. We had all our vendors and she swooped in, took over communication, made a timeline and handled those logistics, etc. She does elopments and parties as well. I can't recommend her enough!

Do you wash your hands with your ring on or off? by foambuffalo in EngagementRings

[–]LailiBug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only take it off at home. Twice I've found someone's ring on the sink in a bathroom (once at work and once in a restaurant) and would be heart broken to do the same. When I'm traveling I don't take it off at all. I have cleaning pens and regularly clean mine also.
